The prelude is your invitation to quiet preparation for the worship of Almighty God. GATHERING AS GOD S PEOPLE PRELUDE Rhosymedre Ralph Vaughan Williams Rich Leasure, organist WELCOME Judy Hockenberry CALL TO WORSHIP One: Who may abide in the presence of God? All: Who may live on God s holy mountain? One: All those who walk blamelessly and do what is right. All: All those who speak truth from their heart. HYMN 4 Holy God, We Praise Your Name Grosser Gott CALL TO CONFESSION PRAYER OF CONFESSION Gracious God, you call us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. You call us to love the world with your passion, and to let that love be expressed in justice, forgiveness, and peace. Forgive us when our hearts are constricted with fear and we do not let your transforming grace open us to the world you cherish. Forgive us when we honor you only with our lips and not with our actions. For your son was sent to be an example to us; but his example is one we do not always follow, for fear of being different or not accepted by others. Help us to step out each day in faith, not fear. SILENT CONFESSION in Jesus name we pray. Amen. WORDS OF FORGIVENESS GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 581) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. PASSING THE PEACE One: The peace of Jesus Christ be with you. All: And also with you. One: Let us share the peace of Christ with one another. COMMUNITY LIFE Alex Lang
