Service for the Lord s Day The Season of Lent ASSURANCE OF PARDON Leader: Hear the words of Holy Scripture: There is therefore no condemnation to those who believe in Christ Jesus. For Christ has set us free from sin and death. Praise be to the Lord! People: To set the mind on the world and the flesh is death. But to set our minds on the Spirt is life and peace. We rejoice, for nothing separates us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Fifth April 2, 2017 10:30 A.M. *CONGREGATION STANDS AS ABLE LITURGICAL COLOR: WHITE *PASSING THE PEACE *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. COLLECT Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true Bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that He may live in us, and we in Him; who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS PRELUDE Depth of Mercy / Search Me - arr., Cindy Berry (Time with Young Children / Dismissal to Children s Church) ANTIPHONAL READING of the PSALTER Psalm 145:8-21 (p. 555, OT) GOSPEL LESSON Luke 11:1-4 (p. 68, NT) SERMON ~ LENTEN SERIES: A PRAYER FOR THE JOURNEY ~ Give Us - Pastor Darnell The People of God Respond *CALL to WORSHIP For those who come hungry hungry for comfort, hungry for love, hungry for a new way of living this is the place and time for God to help you, and to provide for your need. We come to worship today seeking many things seeking peace, seeking healing, seeking answers and we trust in God, believing that God will satisfy our deepest needs. Let God be praised and glorified in all that we say and do, and in this holy time of worship, and in every dream and waking moment of our lives. We come to hallow God s name, longing for God s kingdom to come, God s will to be done, wanting to hear God s word, to be in fellowship with God s people, and to be inspired with a vision so strong and clear, that zeal for the Lord will consume us! *HYMN PRAYER OF CONFESSION To God Be the Glory (Romans 8:1-39) No. 485 (BH) (and silent confession) Leader: Praying in one accord, and humbling ourselves before the Lord, let us confess our need for God and God s unconditional and unending love. (Unison) Eternal God, we are amazed by the abundance of Your provision, and the graciousness in which You give, to us and to all of creation. You are so caring and compassionate, even while we are so undeserving. We confess that we have been ungrateful and unfaithful. Too much that fills our lives is empty and excessive. Lord, give us such holy desire for You and Your kingdom, that we would be fervent in faith, discipline, and service, to Your glory, honor and praise. Amen. ANTHEM Bread of Life - Chancel Choir The Lord s Supper THE INVITATION WORDS OF INSTITUTION GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!

And all of God s people say together the refrain Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. April 2, 2017 THE LORD S PRAYER ( forgive us our debts ) Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. RECEIVING THE BREAD AND THE CUP Holy Communion is by INTINCTION. It is the Lord s Table, who welcomes all.
