Welcome to the Catholic Community of SAINT MARK THE EVANGELIST A Catholic Community of Caring Since 1981 Serving Londonderry, Hudson & Windham - New Hampshire Fr. Mike Zgonc Deacon Tom Lavallee Brandon Sargent Claudia Dominguez Hollis Dunlop Lisa Olsen Artie Carew Richard Dussault Church and Parish Center (603) 432-8711 One South Road, Londonderry, NH 03053 Pastor Permanent Deacon Director of Evangelization Family Faith Formation Youth Minister Office Manager Music Director Custodian MASS SCHEDULE Saturday @ 5:00 PM Sunday @ 8:00 AM 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM Monday through Thursday @ 9:00 AM Welcome Home! We, as a Parish Family, are so glad you are here! As sharers of the one baptism & the one Spirit of the Risen Christ, we come together as the Parish Community of St. Mark the Evangelist to proclaim our identity as the People of God. The Eucharist is the center of our life and work together. Through the one bread, we become the one body of Christ, a living sacrifice of praise. In our worship of God, the Author of life and holiness, we proclaim our hope in the life of Christ s Resurrection; we open our hearts and minds to the Spirit of God dwelling in our midst. In our work, together, we seek to enable our children to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God; to accompany our young sons and daughters on their journeys of discovery toward adulthood; to deepen our faith commitment through prayer & study; to be present to one another in the joys and sufferings, the victories and struggles of life; to give witness to the Gospel of justice and compassion to our hurting world. We welcome to our parish family all who share our Catholic faith & traditions & our search for God in all things. -Parish Mission Statement Facebook: stmarkslondonderry Twitter: @stmarksnh Website: www.stmarksnh.org

From The Desk of Deacon Tom Finally some summer weather! Living in New England, it s my opinion you either get to complain about the cold of winter or the heat of summer, but not both. If we want 72 F weather year round, that's San Diego. I like the heat! Ever since the Ice Storm of 2008, I've had what I joke about as a fear of cold. Mostly it was because I had no heat in the house and was luckily able to borrow a generator for a week before getting my own. But summer means heat, humidity, cookouts, vacations, etc! In fact this is the first weekend of summer. With all of that, it's also apparent in our gatherings on Sundays at Mass that people are away. Masses are slightly lower in attendance. Activities in Parishes tend to decrease a bit, and hopefully, even our priests, and specifically Fr Mike, find some time away to rest and rejuvenate. However, that doesn't mean we get to leave God behind for the summer. At one parish I used to attend, there were families that took the entire summer "off from church!" I never knew who they were, and perhaps it was just rumor (I hope, but I doubt it). I would have liked to have heard their reasoning for this. Thankfully, God never takes the summer off from us. One area that stands out for me is our Adult Faith Formation sessions every other Monday. Summer weather seems to have affected the attendance, but not the engagement of those who are attending. I never miss it if I'm not traveling for work. This past week I was talking with some folks after the session and they said the same thing I've thought about since learning more about my faith. They said "there is so much going on in scripture beneath the surface that I never knew!" It's true that scripture can be complex, and we've only been covering the Gospel of Mark, which is arguably the simplest and definitely the shortest of the four Gospels. However, the depth of meaning that is uncovered continues to reinforce that it is of divine and not of human origin, even though it was written by human authors. With our transition to Confirmation in 3rd grade, it's more important than ever that we all learn more about our faith. And we are blessed at St Mark to have people willing to lead topics that delve into our faith in a comfortable and informal setting. We exist as a faith community because of those that came before us, and they, because of those that came before them. The scriptures and our faith traditions are more than just symbols and rituals. But they may appear to be only that if we don't avail ourselves of the opportunities to learn more about their meaning. Over the next one or two sessions of our Adult Faith Formation, we are nearing the end of the Gospel of Mark and will be covering the Crucifixion of Jesus. If you've been away, for a session or two, this is the culmination of our faith, so it's the perfect time to re-engage for one or two sessions to uncover all the meaning of Christ's death and resurrection contained in the Gospel of Mark. I may not get to say "Happy Easter" for another year or so, but we are an Easter people and God never takes a vacation from us. May we always be searching more deeply for Him and His presence in our life, through others, the Sacraments and His word. Deacon Tom
