Many in our community do not have the funds available to purchase the necessary supplies each year. If you or someone you know is in need of supplies, please contact the church office. Please bring your donations by the office during regular office hours or place them in the collection boxes at the entrance doors of the Church over the next few weekends. Dear parish family, 17 Sunday A Greetings to all as I resume writing my corner here after a month long absence! First of all I deeply thank all of you for the prayers for my successful heart bypass surgery and for my speedy recovery. I greatly appreciate those who send me cards but I know so many of you are keeping me in your thoughts and special prayers. Those prayers have truly lifted me up. Our Lord God is good and heard our pleas. Those who had undergone an open heart surgery knew the ordeal well than those who only imagine it. The risks, the pain and all the discomfort that go with it that we just have to endure in order to achieve the higher value or the greater benefit of better health. The surgeon told me that I am blessed that they have fixed my heart before worst can happen. I am so thankful for the blessings in disguise the Lord God has granted me. Actually I am still in the process of recuperation and not yet fully recovered. I am still under restrictions and not yet allowed to drive or do some strenuous physical activity. It takes about 2 months for the breastbone to completely heal. But I feel I already have enough strength to do partial work. So this Sunday is my first attempt of doing one or two Masses. God willing, I can resume to full duty by mid August. We hear on this Sunday's gospel about the metaphors of the kingdom of heaven, like hidden treasures buried in the field, merchant looking for a fine pearl. They are treasures not far fetch in distant lands but within everyone's grasp in everyday casual life. For Jesus they are those true treasures we can discover within us. They are the treasures of the spirit. They are the treasures that can carry us through life even amidst all the tribulations and drudgery of life. They are the treasures of faith, of hope, and of love, and anything the gospel promotes. They are worth our valuable time, effort and sacrifice. Whether they are manifested in going to Sunday worship or private devotions to the Lord God or whether they are expressed in love and commitment of husband and wives or in acts of piety, charity and goodness at home or work. Their worth is something beyond the value of money. Let us ask this grace of God that we may be guided to seek and discover the true treasures in life that are buried in our very lives. May we find them just buried in our relationship with others, in the family, at work, in the community of the church, all of which are anchored in the love of God. Let us seek those hidden treasures and let us start digging first inside our hearts. Blessings to all and have a good week. Fr. Fr. Tony

Most cases of abuse reported to Adult Protective Services involve self-neglect. Many of these people are vulnerable to abuse because they live alone or are dependent on someone else for their care. Texas requires by law the reporting of elder abuse or the suspicion of elder abuse. If you know of someone who cannot care for himself/herself, or who is being abused, neglected or exploited, whether they live alone or with a spouse or caregiver, Texas law requires that you report the abuse. The number is 1-800-252-5400;your report will remain confidential. Office of Aging # 713-741-8712. Boldly go where many have gone before... and help pass on the Good News of Jesus Christ and our Catholic Faith! This fall, over 300 children and young people, PK-12 th grade, will sign up to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic Faith. At this time, we have 3 classes without a catechist to teach them. Thank you to our volunteer who came forward last week. You can help by becoming a catechist for CCE. As you nurture the faith of our young, you will learn and grow as well! We will provide you with training, materials and support. Classes begin September 10, 2017.
