Please don't forget to come to April's membership meeting. We will be holding election of officers and will need your vote to decide who holds what office. We also need members to run for office. If you are unsure about running, talk to anyone of the officers and they will let you know what it takes, or at least point you in the right direction. I would like to give a big thank you to all that helped out and attended the Smoker/Card Party this year. It was a huge success! All of the American Legion Family worked together and it was a well organized event. We doubled the money that was made in the last couple of years. So once again, Thank You! If you have not paid your dues, please do so. 4th district is second to last place in membership in the state, with only one post at 100%. Your dues are needed to bring that number up. 4th District would like to conduct an Extension Institute Course maybe in September, and would like to know who would be interested. This course gives every member of the Legion family the opportunity to learn and discover the rich history, programs, policies, developments, positions and future goals of our organization. Also, Post 18 would like to hold Funeral Honors Training. If anyone is interested, please let me know. You don't have to commit now but they would like to see if enough people are interested. Be safe and see you at the April Membership meeting. Commander Berg May 26, 2014 Post 537 Pancake Breakfast

Did you think that Winter was ever going to end? Keep your fingers crossed for warmer weather. Well, another Post Smoker has gone into the history books. The Smoker/ card party is the main fund raiser for our Post every year. It helps the Todd Post continue to do all the great work for our veterans and their families that the Todd Post is noted for. All the SAL members would like all the Post and Auxiliary members to know how honored the SAL was to sponsor all the food that was prepared. The SAL donated $400.00 for food, prepared the food, served the food and cleaned up after the meal. They also worked the hall for the raffles, took out trash and helped clean up the hall. We weren t alone in all this. There was a lot of help from both Post and Auxiliary members also. Thanks to all for a job well done. There will be a Pancake/omelet/sausage breakfast in the Post hall on Sunday April 6 th from 8:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. The SAL will again be providing its talents with the frying pans, so please show up and bring your friends and families too. Elections are coming real soon. If you want to run for an office, show up for the meeting and get nominated or turn in a letter stating what office you might be interested in holding and if nominated would you accept a nomination. SAL members, I am so proud of you all. Keep up the great work. The next meeting will be April 1 st at 6:30 P.M. I've seen a few motorcycles on the road so that must mean it's getting warmer with a chance of rain rather than colder with a chance of snow. I'll take that. As of this writing, the 4th District has taken a step up by getting out of 12th place into 11th place as far as membership is concerned. Another 10 places to go and we'll be in 1st.Very shortly, members of the 4th District will be phoning those who have not yet paid dues for 2014 and asking them to do so. If you are able to, please do so. If not, let your caller know and the reason why. The Department is looking for a statewide membership total of approximately 59,500 and is about 2,500 short of that goal. Let's help them reach that goal. Thanks. The Milwaukee County Children and Youth dinner highlighting the Young Marines will be held on April 30th, at Tanner-Paull Post 120 Cost is $20 per person. For more information, call Ray "Godfather " Pasbrig at 1-262-853-4929. 4th District 3rd Vice-Commander John Edelblute is looking for people interested in taking the American Legion Extension Institute Course either on a firsttime basis or for those who have taken it previously, a refresher. I need people who are interested in participating in the City of West Allis Memorial Day Parade. I will accept people who are willing to march, who have a vehicle they wish to ride in or who would like to participate by riding on a trolley. This includes all members of the Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion. The Todd Post is one of the bigger units in the parade and always one of the best. Also, I am in need of a speaker for the Memorial Day Program. If you or someone you know would be interested, see me ASAP.I have asked a few highly recommended persons to speak, but they could not for different reasons. So, let me know. Thank you. The next meeting of the Mighty 4th District will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 730pm at Greendale Post 416,sponsored by George Washington-Bay View Post 180. See ya round the Post.
