ORDER OF WORSHIP MAY 6, 2018 Prelude "Vorspiel" Anton Bruckner Welcome to The Peoples Church! Rev. Drew Filkins Call to Worship Leader: Holy God, Creator of Life. People: you call us out of our dark places, offering us the grace of new life. Leader: When we see nothing but hopelessness, People: you surprise us with the breath of your spirit. Leader: Call us out of our complacency and routines, People: set us free from our self-imposed bonds. Leader: Fill us with your spirit of life, compassion, and peace. People: In the name of Jesus, your anointed one, we pray. Amen. Gathering Hymn "Sing Glory to the Name of God" No. 10 Procession of the Light of Christ Jack and Sophia Fickies, Acolytes First Reading Philippians 1: 1-18 (Pew Bible Page 1,178; Large Print 1,783) Children's Moment Passing the Peace of Christ (Please stand if able. Children are dismissed at this time and can be picked up after service on the third floor) The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you. REQUIEM AETERNAM Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine: et lux perpetua luceat eis. Te decet hymnus, Deus in Sion: et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem. Exaudi orationem meam, ad te omnis caro veniet. Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison. Kyrie eleison. Grant them rest eternal, Lord our God, we pray to thee: and light perpetual shine on them for ever. Thou, Lord, art worshipped in Sion; thy praises shall ever be sung in all Jerusalem. O hear us; O Lord, hear thy faithful servants prayer; to thee shall all mortal flesh return. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. OUT OF THE DEEP Out of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice. O let thine ears consider well the voice of my complaint. If thou, Lord, wilt be extreme to mark what is done amiss: O Lord, who may abide it? For there is mercy with thee: therefore shalt thou be fear'd. I look for the Lord; my soul doth wait for him. In his word is my trust. My soul fleeth unto the Lord; before the morning watch, I say, before the morning watch. O Israel, trust in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy: and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his sins.

Celebration of Holy Communion PIE JESU Michaela Larsen, soprano Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem. Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis sempiternam requiem. Blessed Jesus, Lord I pray in thy mercy grant them rest. Lord our God, we pray thee, grant them everlasting rest. SANCTUS Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth. Pleni sunt caeli et terra gloria tua. Hosanna in excelsis. Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. Hosanna in excelsis. Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and majesty. Heaven and earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord our God: Hosanna in the highest. AGNUS DEI Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis requiem. Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world: in thy mercy, grant them rest. Man that is born of a woman hath but a short time to live, and is full of misery. He cometh up, and is cut down like a flower; he fleeth as it were a shadow. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis requiem. In the midst of life we are in death: of whom may we seek for succor? Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis requiem. I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Prayers of the People & The Lord's Prayer (During the pastoral prayer there will be a time to offer prayers of joy and concern, voiced aloud or silently for and on behalf of others) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Thanksgiving and Dedication of Gifts/Offertory THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD The Lord is my shepherd: therefore can I lack nothing. He shall feed me in a green pasture: and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort. He shall convert my soul: and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness, for his Name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Thou shalt prepare a table before me against them that trouble me: thou has anointed my head with oil, and my cup shall be full. But thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

New Members Statement of Faith Haley Hansen Marc Mellor Stacy Mellor Becky Moulton Jenny Patterson John Patterson Julie Walsh Todd Walsh We believe the teachings of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and with the help of God, we will strive daily to live the life of purity, unselfishness and service which he exemplified to the world. LUX AETERNA I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they rest from their labours: even so saith the Spirit. Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine: cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es. Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine: et lux perpetua luceat eis. Light eternal shine upon them, Lord, we pray: with saints and angels ever dwelling, for thy mercy s sake, may they rest in peace. Grant them rest eternal, Lord our God, we pray to thee: and light perpetual shine on them for ever. Closing Hymn "Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!" No. 1 Benediction (Please stand if able) Benediction Response Go now in peace. Never be afraid. God will go with you each hour of every day. Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know God will guide you in all you do. Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see. God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith, and in love. Postlude "Nachspiel" Anton Bruckner Note: During the Requiem, the parts that are in blue are sung by the choir and parts that are in black and italic are the translations of the latin.
