COUNCIL of MINISTRIES NOMINATIONS JUNE 2017 June 3 & 4, 2017 and June 10 &11, 2017 Sacred Heart of Jesus parishioners will be invited to nominate themselves or another parishioner with that person s consent. Nomination forms are due in Parish Office no later than midnight Sunday, June 11, 2017. PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We, the family of Sacred Heart of Jesus, blessed with the unique gift of our ethnic, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are committed to spread God s love and the gospel message and to serve others by our witness in the Catholic faith. PURPOSE OF THE PASTORAL COUNCIL Through prayerful reflection, the Council strives to discern the needs of the entire parish family (church, school, and all we are called to serve), including its needs for change, positive growth and development. The decisions of the Council should be reached by working prayerfully and collaboratively to arrive at a consensus on the best way to address the parish family s needs and foster its development. CRITERIA Members of the Council, known as Commissioners, must meet the following criteria: a. Be an active member of one or more of the parish ministries. b. Be active in his/her prayer and spiritual life. c. Be able and willing, through prayerful discernment, to work for the improvement and development of the entire parish family. d. Be willing to listen and learn about the parish family s desires and concerns. e. Be able and willing to work collaboratively and to support decisions made by the Council regardless of whether that decision fits within his/her initial thoughts on the subject upon which the Council reaches a consensus. f. Be able and willing to empower others and be a resource to them in developing the gifts they have to offer the parish and others. g. Be at least eighteen years of age or older. h. Be able and willing to regularly attend the meetings and other activities as his/her duties as a Commissioner may require. i. Sign and abide by the Code of Ethics for Sacred Heart Catholic Church Council of Ministries. MEMBERSHIP The Council shall be composed of two Commissioners elected from each of the Parish Commissions, the Pastor and members of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church staff as designated by the Pastor. The newly elected Commissioners shall serve a three year term ending August 2020. There is a need to elect one (1) new member to the Council of Ministries Worship Commission. Please use the nomination form located in church to make a nomination and see more information about the role of the Council. PSR Ends 2016-17 Program With Week of Classes This week marked the end of this year s Parish School of Religion Program. (PSR) Students attended class all week in our newly renovated Activity Center. Our PSR program is headed up by Mrs. Lori Tomecek, assisted by Beth Shoptaugh, Lisa Lively, Patrice Becnel and Michelle Heine Fr. Walsh watches Kian & Arron.
