As you leave the church today, please take a baby bottle with you and, during the month of October, put your loose change in that bottle. Return the (filled?) bottle to church on the last weekend of October. All funds raised will help WOMANKIND in their work with moms, infants, and those about to give birth. WOMANKIND has done great work for the last forty years. We did a WOMANKIND Baby Bottle Fund Raiser a few years back and we raised more than $11,000. WOMANKIND officials tell us that total remains the highest amount ever achieved by a parish. Let s see if we can break our own record during this upcoming Pro-Life month of October. The Catholic Pastors of Parma/Parma Heights have decided to offer a Thanksgiving Day Meal for our area. The Thanksgiving Meal Committee has met several times in the last few months. Here is our plan as it stands now: This Thanksgiving Meal will be offered on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, at St John Bosco Parish in their Bell Tower Catering Facility, 6480 Pearl Road, Parma Heights. That parish has ample parking and their dining area is on one level with no steps. A full traditional Thanksgiving Meal will be served to those who might be alone or to those who would be in need on Thanksgiving Day. Meals will be served in two sittings: The first at 12Noon and a second sitting at one p.m. In mid-october, there will be a detailed bulletin article outlining the steps for reserving a meal. This will give us an accurate head count for food purchase and preparation. Regretfully, this year we are not equipped to offer transportation nor can we offer take-home meals. We could still use some extra help beforehand (food preparation, serving, set-up, clean-up, etc.) as well as on the Big Day. If you would like to volunteer, call our Parish Office at 440-884-3030 Several of our Holy Name Parish Second Thursday Hot Meal volunteers have also stepped up to help with this Thanksgiving Day Project. Holy Name Hot Meal Team B (works the second Thursday of October, January, April, July) could use a few extra hands. Please call Hot Meal Coordinator Linda Michalakes at 440-886-3525 if you can help four times per year. Our 2015-2016 Parish Council Officers and Members will be officially sworn into office at the 9:00am Mass this Sunday morning. Plan on having breakfast at St Charles next Sunday, October 4, after the 7:30, 9:00, or 10:30am Masses. St Charles Youth Group invites you to have a tasty meal of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit, juice and coffee/tea. Proceeds will send St Charles teens to the 2016 World Youth Day in Poland. Still hungry? Get a ticket (at the Parish Office) for the Booster Club Pork Dinner, Saturday, October 17, 5:00pm, Corrigan Gym. Please help with their Raffle, too! There is an October Parish Activities Calendar in this weekend s bulletin. Please clip-and-keep it. And speaking of October, Bishop Lennon asks that we take a head count of the number attending Mass on the first two weeks of October. Ushers will take the count during homily time on the next two weekends. Ushers, please enter the totals on the chart in the priests sacristy.
