The original idea for the event was Tim Davis', and I jumped at the chance to help him with it. His vision was to use the time as an opportunity for fellowship, especially bringing the generations together... and as a chance to do something outside the normal curriculum, chosen by the Christian Education Committee, or individual classes. Over the past several meetings, that has been an excellent chance for members to share their "Life 'Faith' Stories," and we have learned much about fellow members. We look forward to continuing these stories, but I wanted to welcome ANYONE who feels lead to share their story, ANYONE who has something on their heart, and needs an outlet to present it or ANYONE who wants to "teach" on a subject they feel lead to do. These are all examples of the intention of these classes, and I want everyone to feel that they can participate. Please, prayerfully consider doing one of the Sundays. We would especially love to hear from our youth, if any feel so moved. The remaining dates for 2017 are April 30, October 29 and December 31. For 2018, they are April 29, September 30 and December 30. The fifth Sunday in July is part of planned "Summer Combined Classes." Please contact me, or any member of the Christian Education. Committee if you would be interested. Thank you so much... and God bless you all. -John Tauscher Co-chair, CE Committee A personal thanks, here, to all the members of the committee as well: Victoria Krebs, Co-chair, Veronica Cannon, Jan Chapman, Bailey Joy, Evie Landrau, Grace Kenley, Amelia Krebs, Tammy Reel, and Lexi Torrence

P a ge 3 Join Us in Caring - Help Pack Care Packets Once again, Cook s Memorial will be hosting a Community Lenten Worship and Lunch. This is where various congregations gather together across denominational lines. Cook s Memorial Presbyterian Church 3413 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road Charlotte, NC 28216 704-399-7735 Worship is from Noon to 12:30pm in the sanctuary Lunch is from 12:30pm - until March 1st - Tom LaBonte (Presbyterian) March 8th - Mary Lautenslager (Lutheran) March 15th - Sarah Hollar (Episcopalian) March 22nd - Steve Bass (Baptist) March 29th - Barrett Hill (Christian) April 5th - McArthur Sanders (Christian) April 12th - Veronica Cannon (Presbyterian) News from Congregation Care Staying in Touch with Community of Faith To help foster a caring community of faith, the Congregational Care partners have placed blank "Hello" cards and envelopes in the pews and Narthex that you can use to send a note of concern to a person in our community of faith. When you are sitting in the pews and look at an empty spot do more than think of the missing person...take time to complete a card and place it in the Offering Plate. Let them know of your concern and love for them. These will be given to the Church Administrative Assistant to complete the address if you do not know it, and mail for you. We are a busy community and we know that sometimes we make promises and mental reminders to send a card to a person who is part of our community of faith then we get tangled up in the business of the week and the thought passes by...what better way to fulfill this promise than to think of someone in Worship and act on it... Seek out a person who is missing, serve them, and let them know that you love them... The Congregational Care Committee, Presbyterian Women, and Mission Committee are joining together to pack care/snack packages for the following: Our college students (we have about 18). We hope to get these mailed out just prior to the spring semester exams. These boxes will not only contain goodies but will also be specially decorated and contain cards with supportive messages. Special Friends and those who are in the hospital or in need of special attention. The items for this group will be packed in bags that will be placed in the Narthex for pickup by our visitation team or any else who is visiting a person in need of special attention. Community groups that provide special services for example, firemen, policemen, and emergency center operators. We hope to eventually expand this to include overlooked workers such as those at grocery stores and gas stations. We plan to work with the Missions team to deliver these with help from a broad spectrum of our congregation. Tentative plans are to decorate and pack the college boxes on March 31st, 7:00PM, in the CFC. We will also pack as many of the other items as possible but we may need another session to do this. If we get lots of people to come - the more we can get done! For this special mission, we not only need your help with the packing but also with donating the items to fill the boxes and bags. Suggestions are as follows: (Some items may not be suitable for certain bags but we will separate these during the packing.) We would appreciate it if you could bring these items to the Parlor in the East Wing before the March 31st. This is a dynamic and new ministry for us a Paw Creek - join us for the joy of caring - SEEK, SERVE, PRAISE, LOVE CHRIST! P a ge 4 CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRIES NEED YOU! Help is needed to provide the Wednesday night meal for the Children and Youth Ministries. The meal needs to be ready by 6:00 pm and is served until 6:30pm. The meals can be as simple as ordering pizza, fixing hot dogs, deli sandwiches, or ordering a couple of trays of chicken tenders from Sports Page (they have the best deal I am told). Here are some suggestions: #1 We need two or three people each week to set up the meal and clean up afterward. The blessing for these people is that they get to spend time with our children and youth. Our kids are amazing and if you were part of a church group in your younger days, I ll bet you remember fondly the adults who volunteered to help. #2 Donate money to help offset the cost each week. If paying by check or online be sure the memo says Children/Youth Meal. #3 Donate 2 liter drinks, lemonade mix, cookies or snack items that can be kept week to week. Be sure to write Children/Youth on them. If we have a supply of these on hand, we don t have to bring every week. #4 Get your Sunday School Class, Circle, Bible Study group or just a grab a couple of friends and volunteer to cover a week. #5 The Mission SS Class has signed up to be responsible for the third Wednesday of each month. It would be wonderful if a few people/groups would sign up to be responsible for a certain week each month. Sharing responsibility among us keeps a few people from getting burned out. If we get enough groups/people then maybe we could do every other month. As you can see are lots of different ways to help, so please prayerfully consider how you can help with this very important ministry! Paw Creek Presbyterian Church Date: Sunday, March 5, 2017 Time: 8:00am - 11:00am Location: 7400 Mount Holly Road - In the Gym Appointments: Sign up after services or call Tim Sudderth at 704-877-8498 All presenting donors will receive a Free T-shirt! Please contact Debbie Taylor 704-651-3524 to sign up or ask questions. She will be outside Sunday after worship.

P a ge 5 Upcoming Youth Events College Students Please put in your calendar June 19-23, 2017 as the dates for our upcoming Mission Week. The dates may change slightly as we are deciding how many days, however, we will let you know with plenty of time. With the upcoming mission project of Care Packages for College Students, please make sure that the Church Office has your College Student s current address. Congratulations! Congratulations to Jordan Loud for graduating from UNC Asheville on 12/16/16 with a BA in Psychology! And for starting a new job 2/6/17 with Methodist Home for Children Western Assessment Center in Asheville as an Assessment Counselor.
