SCHOOL NEWS St. Ambrose School s website and Facebook pages are a great way to learn more about all of the exciting experiences happening in our school! Check them out at http://school.stambroseonthehill.com/ The Virtue Award is presented in the name of Virtue Based Restorative Discipline. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church a virtue is a habitual and firm disposition to do the good. It allows the person not only to perform good acts, but to give the best of himself. The virtuous person tends toward the good with all his sensory and spiritual powers; he pursues the good and chooses it in concrete actions. The goal of a virtuous life is to become like God. The fourth quarter Virtue Awards were presented to students in first through seventh grade at the closing all-school Mass on May 25 th. The final eighth grade Virtue Award was presented at the graduation ceremony on May 18 th. Congratulations to all of this year s recipients of the Virtue Award! 1 st Grade: Emilia Agusti-Stelzer Emilia displays the virtue of gentleness daily. She is always using kind words and actions towards her classmates. She is a good friend to all. 2 nd Grade: Jack Mizell Jack has demonstrated the virtue of gentleness by showing kindness and tolerance toward others. Jack is a good friend to his peers and cares for those around him. When he has been presented with situations where others have not been kind, Jack is able to remain calm and continues to show a gentle spirit toward others. 3 rd Grade: Izabella Fischer Bella is a reliable friend and has a calming effect on her friends. Her sweet disposition and cheerful smile help put others at ease. She s always willing to offer help to her peers and works to restore goodness in any situation. She is truly a gentle soul. 4 th Grade: Gabriella Brusatti Peter said in the Acts of the Apostles, Repent, and each of you will be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Gabriella demonstrates the meaning of gentleness when interacting with her peers and teachers. She is frequently found using kind and encouraging words to gently guide those in need. 5 th Grade: Joseph Jamerson Gentleness, in a biblical sense, is defined as a sensitivity of disposition and kindness of behavior, founded on strength and prompted by love. Joey is admired by his classmates as being kind, caring, and mild-mannered. His gentleness resonates with everyone he encounters. Students refer to him as someone they can rely upon to treat others fairly and with kindness. He is a true example of gentleness in our classroom. 6 th Grade: Caty Jane Hayes Caty Jane demonstrates a consistent dedication to walking the way of light with Jesus by practicing gentleness. She has proven that it takes a strong, young woman to practice the humility to ask for help and with politeness and thankfulness. She uses her gifts only to build others up by avoiding anger and selfishness. 7 th Grade: Luke Will Luke is a model of gentleness. Not only does he act kindly toward others but he is also patient with others. Luke demonstrates peacefulness and grace within his actions. 8 th Grade: Anna Steck The faculty recently voted for the eighth grader to receive the final Virtue Award. The faculty selected Anna because she not only displayed our virtues chosen for the year (Charity, Hope, Unity, Gentleness and Peace) but is also a great example of what we want in a St. Ambrose student. She is a hard worker and a good friend to all.
