Beloved, Social Justice is one of our Core Values. Will you help us to obey a law? In order to obey a law, we must understand it. Newton s Law of Physics asserts that a body or an object at rest will remain at rest. This law continues, explaining that a body in motion will remain in motion. I submit to you that Bethany no longer resting: we are in motion! In fact, given the events that are happening here, we are gaining momentum and we cannot be stopped! According to this law of physics, the only thing that stops a body s motion is for it to be acted on by another or an opposing force. The force can be the friction created between two objects as one refuses to move or if they move at different rates of speed. Likewise, there can be many things in our lives that will seek to slow us down, stop us or cause us distress. Fear not!, I pray that when you run into distress, you stop and call out to the Lord. May we follow the example of the Psalmist in Psalms 4:1, and say Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. The Lord will answer. Regardless of whether a law involves justice, physics or spirituality, our understanding of that law should lead to implementation, both personally and congregationally. Graciously, the momentum we have build is pushing us full steam ahead! It buoys the extraordinary upcoming event : Women s Convocation.. Sisters in Conversation is building frictionless traction and excitement! I invite you to join us for an All-Women Brunch, Saturday, 11:00am (Tickets $ 25.00). Our Guest Celebrant on Sunday will be the dynamic Reverend Doctor Leslie Callahan, St. Paul s Baptist Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With your attendance, and your help, next weekend will continue to move us forward while representing two more of our Core Values Excellence and Growth. We do this as we implement and obey the vision of the Lord. To God be the Glory. With a Shepherd s Love, Pastor Lacey

THE ORDER OF WORSHIP 7:45 A.M. & 10:45 A.M. PRAISE & WORSHIP **THE CALL TO WORSHIP In this church, all are welcome who call on the name of the Lord. We call out to our righteous Lord. What is it that we will say to the Lord as we call? We will ask the Lord to answer our call. Blessed be the name of the Lord. **THE EVOCATION (In Unison) Gracious God, we come to you in times of both joy and distress. We offer you thanks for our joy. We ask you to give us relief from our distress. God have mercy on us and hear our prayers. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen. **THE HYMN OF PRAISE 102...He Lives **MORNING SCRIPTURE... MORNING SCRIPTURE Psalm 4 (NIV) 1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods 3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. 4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. 5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD. 6 Many, LORD, are asking, Who will bring us prosperity? Let the light of your face shine on us. 7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. SERMONIC SCRIPTURE JOHN 20:24-29 (NIV) 24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, We have seen the Lord! But he said to them, Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, I will not believe. 26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace be with you! 27 Then he said to Thomas, Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe. 28 Thomas said to him, My Lord and my God! 29 Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. Choral Call to Prayer & Response I WILL DO A NEW THING I WILL DO A NEW THING I Will do a new thing in you I Will do a new thing in you Whatever you ask for Whatever you pray for It shall not be denied, saith the Lord BETTER IS ONE DAY Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere
