Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. (Matthew 25:40) Love is something you do! On the last day of the Church s year we are challenged by Christ our King to give our true allegiance to what really matters. Not ambition, greed, status and power, but the quiet revolutionary work of making the world a more just and peaceful place for everyone to live. To the degree that we do this we are co-heirs to the Kingdom Jesus lived, died and was raised for, and we are witnesses to the real meaning of Christ s reign in our lives. Richard Leonard SJ From the Principal Dear Parents, Caregivers, Students and Friends, I hope you have all had a wonderful week and are enjoying the warmer weather. It is hard to believe that the year is so quickly drawing to a close and you may be tempted to think that school life is starting to slow 1

HEATWAVE COMING! Last Wednesday the year 5/6 s continued their exploration of scientific discoveries. We investigated the life of Galileo Galilei and his discovery of the thermo scope. A thermo scope is a device that measures temperature. We first had to get an air tight glass jar. We mixed equal parts water and methylated spirits and then added a little bit of food colouring. Our next step was to give it a big shake to make sure all the ingredients were mixed together. After this, we put a hole in our lid and put a straw through it (the straw was the stick part of the thermo scope). We made the glass jar air tight again by surrounding the gaps with play dough. We did this in an air conditioned room that was really cold. When we went outside in the hot weather to test our thermo scopes the liquid shot up the straws and was almost over flowing. After reflecting on the experiment, we found out that the heat reacted with the liquid s density and that is what caused it to go up the straw higher when the temperature was hotter. We had so much fun and can officially and scientifically report there is a heat wave on the way!
