Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. (Matthew 25:40) Love is something you do! On the last day of the Church s year we are challenged by Christ our King to give our true allegiance to what really matters. Not ambition, greed, status and power, but the quiet revolutionary work of making the world a more just and peaceful place for everyone to live. To the degree that we do this we are co-heirs to the Kingdom Jesus lived, died and was raised for, and we are witnesses to the real meaning of Christ s reign in our lives. Richard Leonard SJ From the Principal Dear Parents, Caregivers, Students and Friends, I hope you have all had a wonderful week and are enjoying the warmer weather. It is hard to believe that the year is so quickly drawing to a close and you may be tempted to think that school life is starting to slow 1

HEATWAVE COMING! Last Wednesday the year 5/6 s continued their exploration of scientific discoveries. We investigated the life of Galileo Galilei and his discovery of the thermo scope. A thermo scope is a device that measures temperature. We first had to get an air tight glass jar. We mixed equal parts water and methylated spirits and then added a little bit of food colouring. Our next step was to give it a big shake to make sure all the ingredients were mixed together. After this, we put a hole in our lid and put a straw through it (the straw was the stick part of the thermo scope). We made the glass jar air tight again by surrounding the gaps with play dough. We did this in an air conditioned room that was really cold. When we went outside in the hot weather to test our thermo scopes the liquid shot up the straws and was almost over flowing. After reflecting on the experiment, we found out that the heat reacted with the liquid s density and that is what caused it to go up the straw higher when the temperature was hotter. We had so much fun and can officially and scientifically report there is a heat wave on the way! BIKE ED The Bike Ed Program was once again a big success. We are very grateful to Mrs Sharon Torpey for so capably stepping in to the role as Physical Education Teacher this term. Our Lady s Musical Evening 2017 The Our Lady s Musical Evening will be held on Monday the 27 th of November in the Multi-purpose room 7:00pm until 8:00pm approximately. The evening provides a valuable opportunity for students who learn a musical instrument to perform for family and friends. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there. Yours Sincerely, Anne and Eve Jozsa 4

Touch the World with the Hands of God Fr. Mark came to visit the Year 1/2s this week and shared with us the importance of Baptism. He taught us about the seven Sacraments. Fr. Mark also explained the significance of the symbols of Baptism. These included, the oil of chrism, water and light. He reminded us to Touch the world with the hands of God. By Mollie, Bridget, Finn, Ivy and Eva (1/2C and 1/2S) Christmas Carols and Nativity Liturgy Friday, December 8 th On Friday, December 8 th we invite you and your family to join us for an evening of Christmas Carols. The evening will begin at 6.00pm and conclude at 8.00pm. We ask that the children come dressed in their school uniform with the addition of a touch of Christmas. This may be as simple as some tinsel on their wrist or in their hair. Whatever you chose will be appropriate. Each class will sing one or two of their favourite Christmas Carols from the deck of our multipurpose building. The Prep students will begin our Carols with their Nativity Play. There will be a Christmas Hamper to be given away so make sure you get your raffle ticket. Following the singing, you are welcome to stay and enjoy a BBQ provided by the PFA.
