He equips us to do whatever He expects us to do, and part of that equipping is the power that comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He lives in us and is with us everywhere we go. His presence brings with it His power, protection, and peace. (From Language of Faith) **************************** Order of Service - Sunday 22nd October 2017 The Service will be led by Rev. Eric Foggitt

Sunday 22 nd October 2017 Call to Worship - based on Psalm 96: 10-14 (congregational responses are in bold) Say among the nations, The Lord reigns The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity. Let the heavens rejoice; let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; Let the fields be jubilant and everything in them. Then all trees of the forest will sing for joy; They will sing before the Lord, for He comes, He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in His truth. Praise: Come, now is the time to worship (Sonrise) Welcome, Prayer of Approach & Lord s Prayer Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

Praise: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (MP 564) 1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation; O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation; all ye who hear, brothers and sisters, draw near, praise Him in glad adoration. 2 Praise to the Lord, who o er all things so wondrously reigneth, shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth: hast thou not seen? all that is needful hath been granted in what He ordaineth. 3 Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work, and defend thee! surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee. Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, who with His love doth befriend thee. 4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him! All that hath life and breath come now with praises before Him! Let the amen sound from His people again: gladly for aye we adore Him. Prayer of Confession Children s Message Praise: Use this money (SSS 2014 92)

1. Use this money to be a blessing to your work, O Lord. Use this money so that other people may also hear God's Word. Thank you for all you've given us and for teaching us to share. Use this money and use me too so others may know you care. 2. Use me, Jesus, to be a blessing to your work, O Lord. Use me, Jesus, so that other people may also hear God's Word. Thank you for all you've given us and for teaching us to share. Use me, Jesus, my whole life through, so others may know you care. Blessing on the Children Bible Reading: Psalm 96: 1-9 (p. 602) 1 Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. 4 For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. 5For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

6Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary. 7Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. 9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Matthew 22: 15-22 (p. 990) Paying the Imperial Tax to Caesar 15 Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. 16They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. Teacher, they said, we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? 18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19 Show me the coin used for paying the tax. They brought him a denarius, 20 and he asked them, Whose image is this? And whose inscription? 21 Caesar s, they replied. Then he said to them, So give back to Caesar what is Caesar s, and to God what is God s. 22 When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away. Praise: Abba Father let me be MP 3 (Sonrise)

Abba Father, let me be Yours and Yours alone. May my will for ever be evermore Your own. Never let my heart grow cold, never let me go, Abba Father, let me be Yours and Yours alone. Sermon: Praise: Immortal, invisible God only wise (MP 327) 1 Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light inaccessible hid from our eyes, most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise. 2 Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might; Thy justice like mountains high soaring above Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love. 3 To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small; in all life Thou livest, the true life of all; we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, and wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee. 4 Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight; All laud we would render; O help us to see tis only the splendour of light hideth Thee. 5 Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light inaccessible hid from our eyes, most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

Offering & Prayer of dedication Praise: Take my life and let it be Mozart (MP 624) 1 Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee; take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise. 2 Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love; take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee. 3 Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King; take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee. 4 Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold; take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose. 5 Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine: take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne. 6 Take my love; my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store: take myself, and I will be ever, only, all, for Thee. Prayers of Intercession by the Elder on duty

Praise: Your name is holy (Sonrise) Church News announced by the Elder on duty Praise: In Christ alone In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! - who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine - Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.

No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand: Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand. Benediction and three-fold Amen ***************************************** Are you in need of prayer or pastoral care? Or do you know someone who is?
