The Order of Worship August 17, 2008 9:30 AM To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory, to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whoever will come--this church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome Prelude *Call to Worship Rev. David Rea Minister: Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name! People: For his anger is but for a moment and his favor is for a lifetime. Minister: You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my heart may sing your praise and not be silent. People: O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! Psalm 30:4-5, 11-12 *Hymns A Mighty Fortress is Our God EIN FEST BURG A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; Our helper he amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great; and armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing; Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he, Lord Sabaoth his name, from age to age the same, And he must win the battle. That Word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us sideth; Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also; The body they may kill: God's truth abideth still; His kingdom is forever. Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise ST. DENIO Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, thy great Name we praise. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might; Thy justice like mountains high soaring above, Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love. Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light, Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight; All praise we would render; O help us to see 'Tis only the splendor of light hideth thee!

*Prayer of Invocation and Adoration Confession of Faith You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Honor your father and mother. You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet. From Exodus 20:1-17 Song of Praise We Will Glorify We will glorify the King of Kings, we will glorify the Lamb. We will glorify the Lord of Lords who is the Great I Am. Lord Jehovah reigns in majesty, we will bow before His throne. We will worship Him in righteousness, we will worship Him alone. He is Lord of Heaven, Lord of Earth, He is Lord of all who live. He is Lord above the universe, all praise to Him we give. Hallelujah to the King of Kings, hallelujah to the Lamb! Hallelujah to the Lord of Lords, who is the Great I Am. Public Confession of Sin Minister: Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! People: Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. Minister: Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. People: Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. From Psalm 51 Private Confession of Sin -2-

Assurance of Pardon I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide. I said, I will confess my transgression to the Lord. And You did forgive the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:5 Intercessory and Offertory Prayer Mr. Chris Floyd Musical Offering Sermon Psalm 32 Rev. Ronnie Rowe 1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. 6 Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him. 7 You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. 9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. 10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord. 11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart! *Hymn of Response Take My Life and Let it Be HENDON Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee. Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise. Let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King. Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee, Filled with messages from Thee. Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store. Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee, Ever, only, all for Thee. -3-

Words of Institution Rev. Carlton Wynne Prayer of Thanksgiving The Lord s Table All those who trust in Christ alone for their salvation, are baptized, and belong to a Bible believing church are invited to partake of the Lord s Supper together, feeding on the grace of God by faith. If you have not put your trust in Christ, please allow the elements to pass you by and take this opportunity to meditate on the meaning of the Gospel. A Word to Parents: Baptized children are invited to the table after they have made a profession of faith and have been received as communing members by the Session of the church to which their parents belong. Please hold the bread, and we will partake together. Please drink the cup as you receive it. During the bread Rock of Ages NEW CITY FELLOWSHIP Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, from Thy riven side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure; cleanse me from its guilt and power. Not the labor of my hands can fulfill Thy law s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress; helpless look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die. While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyes shall close in death, When I soar to worlds unknown, see Thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee. During the cup Instrumental *Closing Hymn And Can It Be That I Should Gain SAGINA And can it be that I should gain an int rest in the Savior s blood? Died he for me, who caused his pain? For me, who him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be that thou, my God shouldst die for me? Chorus: Amazing love! How can it be, that thou my God shouldst die for me? He left his Father s throne above, so free, so infinite his grace! Humbled himself, so great his love, and bled for all his chosen race. Tis mercy all, immense and free: for O my God it found out me. Chorus Long my imprisoned spirit lay fast bound in sin and nature s night; Thine eye diffused a quick ning ray; I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free; I rose, went forth, and followed thee. Chorus No condemnation now I dread; Jesus and all in him is mine! A-live in him, my living Head, and clothed in righteousness divine, bold I approach the eternal throne, and claim the crown through Christ my own. Chorus -4-

*Benediction Minister: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. People: Thanks be to God. Amen!
