Luke 24:13-16 NIV Greetings to the Great River Emmaus Gathering Community, Our gathering community is hosting a very important event soon. On Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28, three representatives from the Upper Room Walk to Emmaus movement based in Nashville, Tennessee will be in Quincy. On Friday, April 27 from 10 am to 2 pm, the representatives will be meeting with clergy for training. All Walk to Emmaus clergy that wish to serve on a weekend are urged to attend. The clergy training will be at the Vermont Street UMC at 8th and Vermont in Quincy. Lunch will be provided. The steering committee has planned a fellowship gathering for Friday evening at 7 pm at the Vermont UMC. The committee would like to see all members of the community attend for fellowship, food (bring a snack to share), and fun. Renew friendships and meet new Christian friends. Then on Saturday, April 28, the three representatives will be conducting a leadership development workshop. Registration begins at 8:30 am; the workshop starts at 9 am and will last to 5 pm. For lunch, meat, drinks, and table service will be provided. Please bring a dish to share if attending. This workshop is for all members of the community and I urge to make plans to attend. In this newsletter are an invitation and a registration form to return to Cathi Eberly at the Upper Room. Also, now is the time to begin praying for those you may wish to sponsor on the summer walks. I know it seems early but these days our calendars fill up fast and it is never too early to ask someone if they would like to experience a walk. May you and your family had a blessed Easter! Equip. Empower. Educate 2012 ILLINOIS Leadership Development Event Mark your Calendars - April 27th & 28th, 2012! Vermont Street United Methodist Church, 818 Vermont Street, Quincy, IL 62301 Time to begin planning for all boards to attend this event. This year we encourage all who did not attend in 2010 to come, this also includes Chrysalis. You might consider other leaders in the community who have agreed to come on board, or being considered for next year, or those who have been called to serve as weekend leaders. The Friday Clergy Leadership is for all clergy serving the community, and some laity on the board who are able to attend. We as a laity are responsible to make sure that clergy qualifications are followed, so we need to know what they are. The Saturday curriculum is rotating - and some subjects we will only cover once every three years. The schedule is attached, but we will do some alterations and combine year 2 & 3 since we did not come to Illinois in 2011. Included is a individual registration form. It is critical for our space and meal planning to have registrations in by Saturday April 14th. We look forward to meeting with all of you, as we build relationships with each other, other communities, and with Christ. If you have questions, please notify me at myagape2u@ juno.com and I will do my best to address them. The North Central Regional Team Cathi, Carl, & Steve Cathi Eberly N.
