Call to Confession Prayer of Confession Confession The Reverend Erika Funk All: Holy and merciful God, in your presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against you. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord, for we are sorry for all we have done that is apart from your will. Forgive our sins, and help us to live in your light and walk in your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord. One: In silent prayer, let us confess to God the things we choose not to speak aloud. Assurance of Pardon One: Friends, believe the good news. All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. *Response (Hymn No. 581) gloria patri Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Response *Affirmation of Faith The Reverend Katelyn Gordon Cooke Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Offertory Anthem This Joyful Eastertide William Henry Harris This joyful Eastertide, away with sin and sorrow! My love, the crucified, hath sprung to life this morrow. Had Christ, that once was slain, ne er burst his three-day prison, our faith had been in vain; but now has Christ arisen. My flesh in hope shall rest, and for a season, slumber till trump from east to west shall wake the dead in number. Death s flood hath lost its chill, since Jesus cross d the river; lover of souls, from ill my passing soul deliver. Had Christ, that once was slain, ne er burst his three-day prison, our faith had been in vain; but now has Christ arisen. Invitation to the Table The Sacrament of the Lord s Supper The Great Thanksgiving One: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. One: Lift up your hearts. All: We lift them up to the Lord. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. The Words of Institution Communion Music During Communion Christ Hath a Garden Gerald Near Christ hath a garden walled around, a paradise of fruitful ground, chosen by love and fenced by grace from out the world s wide wilderness. Like trees of spice his servants stand, there planted by his mighty hand; by Eden s gracious streams that flow to feed their beauty where they grow. Awake, O wind of heav n, and bear their sweetest perfume through the air; stir up, O south, the boughs that bloom, till the beloved master come, that he may come, and linger yet among the trees that he hath set, that he may evermore be seen to walk amid the springing green. *Hymn No. 267 Come Christians, Join to Sing Come, lift your hearts on high: Let praises fill the sky: He is our guide and friend; to us he ll condescend; his love shall never end: Praise yet our Christ again: Life shall not end the strain: On heaven s blissful shore his goodness we ll adore, singing forevermore: *Hymn No. 321 The Church s One Foundation 1 The church s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord. She is his new creation by water and the word. From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride. With his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died. 2 Elect from every nation, yet one o er all the earth, her charter of salvation: one Lord, one faith, one birth. One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with every grace endued. 4 Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace forevermore: till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest. 5 Yet she on earth has union with God, the Three in One, and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won: O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we, like them, the meek and lowly, may live eternally. 3 Though with a scornful wonder this world sees her oppressed, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed, yet saints their watch are keeping; their cry goes up: How long? And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.
