Call to Confession Prayer of Confession All: Confession The Reverend Katelyn Gordon Creator God, with each breath of life you breathe, you give gifts to your creation, calling us to use your gifts to build up your kingdom on earth. We confess that sometimes we do not see your gifts for the treasures they are. We either take credit for them ourselves, or we dismiss them as not important. We privilege some gifts over others, forgetting that you care about tiny things as much as big things. When we are called upon to use our gifts for your glory, we often find ourselves distracted by our own desire and uncertain of your direction. Forgive us. Open our ears to hear you speaking and our hearts to embrace your purpose. One: In silent prayer, let us confess to God the things we choose not to speak aloud. The rosebud in the sanctuary celebrates the birth of James Evans Farnham, son of John and Lauren Farnham. Elise is the daughter of Rich and Brooke Davis. Cooper is the son of Jason and Christy Snead. Assurance of Pardon One: Friends, believe the good news. All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. A time of silence will be kept. *Response (Hymn No. 581) gloria patri Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen. Sacrament of Baptism (9 a.m.) Hymn No. 188 Sacrament of Baptism Elise Bailey Davis (11 a.m.) Cooper Johnstone Snead jesus loves me Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong. They are weak but he is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. *Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. *Hymn No. 32 1 I sing the mighty power of God that made the mountains rise, that spread the flowing seas abroad and built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day. The moon shines full at God s command, and all the stars obey. 2 I sing the goodness of the Lord who filled the earth with food. God formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good. Lord, how thy wonders are displayed, where er I turn my eye, if I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky! I Sing the Mighty Power of God 3 There s not a plant or flower below but makes thy glories known. And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from thy throne, while all that borrows life from thee is ever in thy care, and everywhere that we can be, thou, God, art present there. *Hymn No. 712 As Those of Old Their Firstfruits Brought 1 As those of old their firstfruits brought of vineyard, flock, and field to God, the giver of all good, the source of bounteous yield, so we today our firstfruits bring, the wealth of this good land: of farm and market, shop and home, of mind and heart and hand. 3 In gratitude and humble trust we bring our best today, to serve your cause and share your love with all along life s way. O God who gave yourself to us in Jesus Christ your Son, help us to give ourselves each day until life s work is done. 2 A world in need now summons us to labor, love, and give, to make our life an offering that all may truly live. The church of Christ is calling us to make the dream come true: a world redeemed by Christ-like love, all life in Christ made new. *Hymn No. 697 1 Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee; take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise; let them flow in ceaseless praise. 2 Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love; take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee, swift and beautiful for thee. Take My Life 3 Take my voice and let me sing always, only, for my King; take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee, filled with messages from thee. 4 Take my sliver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold; take my intellect and use every power as thou shalt choose, every power as thou shalt choose. 5 Take my will and make it thine; it shall be no longer mine. Take my heart, it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne, it shall be thy royal throne. 6 Take my love; my Lord, I pour at thy feet its treasure store; take myself and I will be ever, only, all for thee, ever, only, all for thee.
