Craig Dear Parishioners, I wish you all a Blessed Easter. The Easter season lasts for 50 days. It ends with the feast of Pentecost, May 20th. The Easter season celebrates the resurrection and life that Jesus gave us. The readings will speak of the appearances of Jesus to his disciples. On Easter day we have the Easter bunny. The legend says that the Easter bunny was the first animal at the tomb when Jesus rose from the dead. The bunny was so affected by the appearance of Jesus that the bunny turned white. He was so startled at the sight that he became very jumpy. The Easter eggs are a symbol of new life. Every Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection. Every Sunday is like Easter Sunday. At each Mass, we remember the death & resurrection of Jesus. Don t let Easter be the last time you come to church. Let us all continue to celebrate the new life God has given us. I would like to congratulate our new Catholics who joined the church Saturday night at the Easter Vigil. May God be with you on your new journey. Thanks to all who decorated our Church and to all the choirs for our beautiful music. It makes it all very special. There will be no Mass on Monday of this week to allow Fr Dillon and I to spend time with family I wish you all a great week. Fr. There are times in a person's life when God's presence is so real and strong that you feel like you can reach out and touch it. The CRHP renewal weekend is one of those times. The experiences which were shared about God in our lives really revitalized me, and gave me new peace and strength which has stayed with me. ~ Sam King, St. Leo Parishioner Pick up a brochure in the commons, at the office or download one from www.stleo.net for more information about the upcoming spring Women s renewal weekend on April 28-29th, 2018!! Good News from St. Pius X/St. Leo School Hello St. Pius X / St. Leo Community members, I want to wish you all a very happy Easter from us here at your school. It has been such a blessing to be the principal at this very special school and I continue to pinch myself to remind myself that I am not dreaming. I am equally amazed at how fast the time has gone by and we are already into April as well! It s been a busy school year, with so many successes and I hope that you and your families have a very blessed Easter and a wonderful Spring. For preparation for Easter, our sixthgrade religion classes spent time during this Lent creating a prayer opportunity for our community. The students were divided into groups and given a Station of the Cross. Then each group wrote a reflection about sights and sounds of the Station, as well as a prayer to help us grow closer to Jesus. Each group then recorded their writings with a Google Slides presentation, and videos were made into a playlist on YouTube. Those recordings will be on the school website www.spsl.net/for-parents and also on our school Facebook page www.facebook.com/ stpiusxstleoschool. We also want to make sure that our entire school community knows about our Third Annual SPSL School Recognition Dinner that will be held on Tuesday, April 24th. The SPSL Recognition Dinner is our dinner and awards presentations to recognize many of our outstanding school community members. This year we will be honoring: The NCEA / SPSL School Distinguished Graduate Award Dr. Johnell Ohlinger Brooks (1987) The Reverend George Kempker Volunteer of the Year Award Susan Drew The Sister Brigetta Burns "Teacher of the Year Award Pam Botos The Sister Viola Miksch Servants of Mary Service Award Dave Ludwig SPSL School Hall of Fame inductee Fred Dohmen St. Pius X/St. Leo School If you have children in grades Pre-Kindergarten (3-year-old and 4-yearold programs) to Grade 8 that you are thinking about sending to our school for the next school year, please call our school office at 402-551- 6667 to set up a time to come and visit, and, then register your child/ren when you decide to come to our school. We are blessed that our grades are filling up fast but we would love for you and your family to join our school family next year. We are very proud of this event and I want to thank our school s development coordinator, Bob Nowaczyk and Co-Chairs Sue Coder and Mary Grenier for their hard work on this event. All are welcome to attend. If you would like to attend this dinner, please email Bob Nowaczyk at bob.nowaczyk@spsl.net and we will send you an invitation. Single tickets are $45. If you cannot attend but would like to sponsor a table ($400 full table, $200 half table) or provide a couple of tickets, you may make your donation online at www.spsl.net/ways-to-support. We also give complimentary tables to the Servant of Mary sisters, our current and past parish priests, and as many complimentary tickets for our current teachers and staff that we can raise. Thank you for all your continued support for your school and for continuing to read about all the great things happening. God bless you all and Go Panthers! In Pursuit of Life, Love and Happiness By: Deacon Jim Shipman They do not see me here in the corner of the tomb as they roll the large stone over the entrance. I almost cry out, wait I m in here, but I want to be with my Lord. I ve stopped crying now, but how I long to see my Jesus again, how I long to hear His voice, to see His smile, and hear His laughter. I now fear my own death, but I would rather die with Jesus than to live in the world. I ve lost track of time now, but it seems like days have passed. Suddenly I feel the ground tremble around me. The place where His body lays begins to glow. It glows so bright I cannot even look. It is like the sun within the cave. The light passes and the great stone that sealed the entrance moves slowly and the early morning light begins to shine into the tomb. I look and see my Lord again but He is standing in the tomb. His body is no longer covered in blood or bruises, but appears anew. His hands, feet and side still show the holes of the nails and the spear. In a moment in time the tomb is again filled with light and young man with a pure white robe appears and dresses our Lord and King. Jesus gently grasps his hand like an old friend and He turns and walks in to the light of a new day. I watch intently as the young man greeted some women coming into the tomb and he said, "Do not be afraid! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised. Alleluia!
