CCLI License # 1049021 Welcome & Announcements Brenda Stone, Liturgist (All are invited to sign in the Friendship Register) Let us prepare our hearts and minds to worship God Chimes Call to Worship: One: O God, who makes all things new, speak to us as whole people today. May your truth touch not just our intellects, but also our deeper yearnings of heart and soul. All: We bring with us our daily concerns, as well as our more eternal questions. May your new creation in us shed light upon our every need. *Opening Hymn 267 All Things Bright and Beautiful Call to Confession One: In your mercy, forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways. All: Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us, Christ is love for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun a reformation in us. Prayer of Confession: One: God of grace, you call us to be like the Christ in our walk with you, All: but we are proud. One: You offer us a simple solution to our wandering heart, All: but we think we are important enough for wonders and grand acts. 2

One: In those times when our pride blocks our sight of your graciousness, mercy, and love, All: take the darkness from our eyes, that we may see. One: For those times we grow too sure of our own importance, All: forgive us. Declaration of Forgiveness One: The gospel teaches us that God is willing to cleanse us from our pride, our blindness, our stubborn insistence on having things our way. All: Through God s grace we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Amen. The Peace One: May the Peace of Christ be with you. All: And also with you. Let us pass the Peace to one another. *Congregational Response 468 Let All the World in Every Corner Sing Let all the world in every corner sing, My God and King! The heavens are not too high, God s praise may thither fly; The earth is not too low, God s praises there may grow. Let all the world in every corner sing, My God and King! My God and King! The Word Children s Time Prayer of Illumination One: Good Creator God, we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from our mouth. Make us hungry for this heavenly food, that it may nourish us today in the ways of eternal life; through Jesus Christ, and bread of heaven. All: Let us hear today with clarity. Let us see with clear spiritual vision. Let us know in our hearts with your love, the Word you have for us today. Amen. Scripture Reading (ESV): Psalm 147:1-11, Mark 1:31-39 One: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Special Music JayE Shurtz Sermon The Life of Christ: Continued Rev. Charley Shurtz *Hymn 454 Blessed Jesus, at Your Word *Statement of Faith (in unison) Apostles Creed (Traditional) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. AMEN. Prayers of the People Silent Prayer Time The Lord s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 4
