IN OUR PARISH COMMUNITY On Saturday, February 21, at the Volunteer Appreciation Reception, the ninth annual St. Bernadette ministry award, Spirit of St. Bernadette, was bestowed upon a very deserving parishioner. This special recognition is given to a person who lives out the Mission of St. Bernadette Parish in an exemplary manner. Claudia Spaulding is the recipient of the 2014 Spirit of St. Bernadette Award. Claudia is and has been active in many aspects of our parish. From helping out in the parish office to volunteering for the rummage sale and festival, she is always willing to step up and lend a helping hand. Claudia helped in the school for many years, including being a room mother when her children attended St. Bernadette School. She lends her culinary skills by baking when asked for various events. She has been active on the Human Concerns Committee. Claudia Claudia Spaulding receives Spirit of St. Bernadette Award also gives of herself by driving homebound parishioners and friends to visit other homebound friends. She runs errands for them and takes them to doctor appointments when needed. She also served on ristian Women and helped run the Holiday Fair in the past. For over 40 years, Claudia has been a special part of this parish, quick with a hello and always showing concern and support for those in need. If you need a smile, a shoulder, or an encouraging word, you can go to Claudia. It is this kindness and compassion that make her so special and make working and volunteering more enjoyable. You can count on her to listen and to offer advice. She has touched more lives than she is aware of. Because she leads by example, she is the personification of what we mean when we say We are a warm and welcoming faith community. Parish Council Nominations Each year you are asked to nominate those parishioners, adults and youth, who you feel have a strong faith commitment and a willingness to share their faith with us in a leadership role.
