Fourth Sunday of Easter April 21 & 22, 2018 SPRING BURIALS: We have lost a lot of people this past winter. The funeral directors are starting to schedule graveside services. So that we can accommodate the increased demand and still be available to meet the needs for recent deaths and Veteran Cemetery burials, Father Ray and Deacon Tom will limit graveside services to the following: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 AM to Noon. Please make your arrangements through your funeral director or the parish office (934-5013). As some of you have heard there are major changes in the Religious Education and Confirmation programs. We will be addressing these changes at a meeting with Diocesan personnel on June 10. This is an important meeting for our parish. Changes will affect us all. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. Watch the bulletin for more information as the time gets closer. New Hampshire law requires that anyone who has reason to suspect a child is being or has been abused, neglected must make a report to the Division for Children, Youth & Families ( DCYF ) of the State of New Hampshire, 1-800-894-5533. Any person who suspects or alleges child abuse on the part of a priest, deacon, employee, or volunteer of a parish, school, or institution of the Diocese of Manchester is also encouraged to make a report to the Office for Ministerial Conduct, 603-669-3100. Church personnel - clergy, paid employees, and volunteers have additional reporting requirements if they believe that Church personnel have sexually abused a child. To learn more about the reporting requirements, see Mary Ellen Shaw, the safe environment coordinators for our parish or the diocesan website under Child Safety : www.catholicchurchnh.org. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Catholic Church in New Hampshire is committed to the safety of children.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK It s Catholic Charities time again! Each year, in mid-may, the diocese has a fund-raising drive for Catholic Charities. We hand out fliers and donation envelopes and use the pulpit to ask people to pledge or donate. Last year, our parishioners donated just over $16,000 to Catholic Charities. This was a little less than the previous year, when we gave a little less than the year before. Unfortunately, the need for charity goes up, not down. I have a hard time speaking about money from the pulpit: I don t want anyone to think that we need them in church because we want their money - we need them there to join us in prayer, period! If I can help it, I only speak about money from the pulpit twice a year: the mission appeal in the summer and Catholic Charities in spring. Why Catholic Charities? Because the bishop says so! But also because we need to be reminded on a regular Servers basis that our surplus blessings really belong to those who need them more than we do. And, of all the non-profits in the State begging for our help, none of them come close to Catholic Charities in the scope of their services, the area they serve and the amount of the money raised that goes directly to the programs. Please read the flier in this bulletin and you ll see what I mean. Catholic Charities is the compassionate face and hands of our Church here in New Hampshire; it is how we, as Catholics, do what Jesus did. We could personally visit and help a number of needy individuals, wearing a cross on our lapel, to show them what our Christian love is inspiring us to do for them. Catholic Charities does it more consistently and effectively. And they are willing to keep doing it if we are willing to support them.
