POPE JOHN PAUL II ASSEMBLY NEWS Volume 5, Issue 2 August 2013 Affiliated Councils: Monsignor James Corbett Warren Memorial Council 5073 St. Gabriel Council 10061 Conseil St. Antoine-Daniel 10340 Faithful Friar's Message: As you know, His holiness Pope Francis is in Brazil to celebrate and join the youth of the world. He also blesses the flags of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. But his main message was to the youth of the world and to all societies. No Peace-Building will last in a society that marginalizes a part of itself (Pope Francis) The holy father then addressed the youth who, he said, are often disappointed by the facts that speak of corruption on the part of the people who put their own interests before the common good, and urged, never yield to discouragement, do not lose trust, do not allow your hope to be extinguished. Situations can change, people can change. Be the first to bring good, do not grow accustomed to evil, but defeat it with good. You are not alone, the Church is with you, the Pope is with you I make my own intentions that you carry deep within: thanksgiving for joys, pleas for help in times of difficulty, a desire for consolation in times of grief and suffering. Vatican City, 26 July 2013 (VIS) He concluded by reminding all of those present that these messages that the Pope gives daily are on the Vatican Information Service. These messages and Vatican news can inspire us to work more fully for the honour of our Church, our parish and our councils and our community. At times, we may get too busy, too discouraged or too frustrated to put in our best efforts. Never forget that we are Bothers in the Knights of Columbus. If we fall, we get up. When we can t, we should be able to call on another Knight to pick us up. The three theological virtues are Faith, Hope and Love and the Greatest of these is Love, not only in name but In Practice.
