The happily married couple encounter Jesus deeply, daily and personally. They nourish their marriage on Word and Sacrament, and live out their faith through works of charity and compassion. Take Action: As a couple, pray together EVERY DAY. If you are not already doing this, start simple with prayers you already know (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) followed by an act of Thanksgiving for each other and your marriage (i.e. Thank you for our marriage). ADORATION Our Hidden Lord in Adoration One very cold winter day, Martin and his companions came upon a beggar at the gate of the city of Amiens. The man s only clothes were nothing but rags and he was shaking with cold. The other soldiers passed by him, but Martin felt that it was up to him to help the beggar. Having nothing with him, he drew his sword and cut his long cloak in half. Some laughed at his funny appearance as he gave one half to the beggar. Others felt ashamed of their own selfishness. That night, Jesus appeared to Martin. He was wearing the half of the cloak that Martin had given away. Martin, still a catechumen, has covered me with this garment, Jesus said. Right after this wonderful event, St. Martin went to be baptized. St. Martin of Tours-Feast day 11/11 This soldier saint lived in the fourth century. He joined the Roman army in Italy when he was only fifteen. Although his parents were pagans, he began to study the Christian religion. Those who study the Christian religion are called catechumens until they are baptized. As we celebrate Veteran s Day, let us pray during Adoration for all the active duty, retired, and fallen vets who have served our country. Please commit to an hour of Adoration. We need more people for Adoration. Our goal is at least 3 people per hour. A 2nd person is needed on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 pm and a 2nd person on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. Please call Ruthann at 756-8551 if you can fill this time. CARROLL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP Carroll College is once again offering a prospective student from our parish a Carroll College scholarship, named in memory of the deceased priests of the Diocese of Helena and the Diocese of Great Falls/Billings. Carroll requires that the recipient of the $1,000 scholarship be a student planning to attend Carroll College for the first in in the fall of 2018. Applications are in the parish office or at www.carroll.edu/documnts/financial-aid. The deadline for completed applications is February 1, 2018. ART & ENVIRONMENT The A & E committee would like to purchase two 15 life-like trees for the sanctuary at Christmas. The estimated cost is $1200. This would save many work hours of the positioning/balancing of live trees, attaching lights, etc. It is especially urgent to have them for Christmas 2017, since the 4th Sunday of Advent is Christmas Eve, so hours of decorating must be condensed into a couple of hours. We are funded solely by donations, therefore we ask your consideration of this request. Page 4
