Brethren, FROM THE EAST On February 28 th we conferred the Entered Apprentice Degree on Brothers Adam Paul and Steve Stumpp. Please, if you haven t already, introduce yourself to them, welcome and help guide them on their journey. That same night Daniel Gross was voted on and declared proficiency in the EA degree and eligible to receive the Fellow Craft Degree. Kensington Bethesda was well represented at this year s Regional meeting held at Centennial Lodge #174 in Upper Marlboro where our Most Worshipful Grand Master Kostas Vourvoulas laid out his vision for Maryland Masonry.. MWGM Vourvoulas had recently attended a conference of Grand Masters. It is a meeting of GMs from all over the United States and other Countries. He reported that Maryland is one of the most Masonically innovative states in our union Something the GL is trying for the first time this year is Storm the Castle, a 5K run-walk that will benefit Truckin 4 Troops, a charity dedicated to serving wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center and their families. Brothers, Walter Reed is a little over three miles from our lodge; we should own a big part of this event. I know I will be one of those runners storming the Castle, and I hope you will join me on Saturday April 1 st on the campus of the Grand Lodge in Cockeysville at 8:30 in the morning in your running shorts and sneakers. Register online at StromtheCastle5K.com. If you are not a runner you can still participate you can walk or cheer your Lodge Brothers at the finish. It will be fun for all. On Sunday, March 12, there will be a wreath laying at the tomb of George Washington at Mt. Vernon 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Officers will wear their tux, apron and jewel, members apron and dark suit. Meet outside the front gate of Mt. Vernon at 12:30. Contact Dick Feeser at 800-369-8909. On March 22 at 6:30PM we will be conferring the Master Mason degree on Brother Antonio Izaguirre at the George Washington Memorial, in Alexandria Virginia. Contact me if you are interested in going or participating in the degree. Brother Peter Brock our Educational Programs Chair has a great line up of talks for our March and April meetings; Hope to see all of you in lodge Fraternally, Nick McIntosh Sr., WM FROM THE WEST Brethren allow me to introduce myself. I was initiated, passed, and raised in Ware Lodge # 435 in Alabama and when I moved I was the Junior Warden. Both of my grandfathers (both departed) and my father are Freemasons. Their lodge is Joe Southall # 905. My wife (Laura) and I moved to Kensington May of 2015. I visited many lodges and did not feel they were right. I had been in contact, via email, with Tom Marraffa and visited K-B. The men where warm, welcoming, and just plain nice. So I petitioned to join twice, courtesy of the grand lodges misplacement of all paperwork, which seems to be the norm of grand lodges. The brothers voted me in as Senior Warden for 2017, not sure if that s because they like or hate me. This lodge, my lodge, OUR lodge is growing and being active! So I invite each and every one of you, come and enjoy our exciting year! DeWayne Nichols - Senior Warden Mar - Apr 2017 6 Mar - Apr 2017 7
