Weekly worship is the best place to practice what it means to be Christian. We gather to hear scripture, apply God s Word to our lives, pray together as a community, and eat at Christ s table. We are strengthened for lives of love and service throughout the week. There is no age requirement or developmental pinnacle. God invites everyone to participate fully in praise. If you have questions, we would love to get to know you more. If you are interested in joining Atonement, please contact the church office or ask an usher for a membership form. Atonement is Family Friendly Children are welcome at our worship services. Activity bags are available in the narthex and children s bulletins are available from the usher. Additionally, if you are in need of a Nursery, it is located in the Narthex. It is open to parents to use during the worship service. (Assembly is seated) We Offer Ourselves and Come to the Table God feeds us with the real presence of Jesus Christ. Offering "Be Still and Know" - Michael John Trotta Choir (Please sign the Welcome to Worship Pad during the Offering) Offertory Prayer and Thanksgiving for Stewardship (Assembly stands) L: Today is a day of celebration in our life together at Atonement. Today we remember that each and every one of us young and old is called by God in baptism to be stewards of justice, stewards of creation, stewards of peace, stewards of this family of faith. Stewards give from all aspects of their lives. Each of us has gifts to share. As we accept this call to be stewards, we each become a living example of Christ s gospel, proclaiming faith through all that we do and all that we give. As it is written in I Peter, Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. (I Peter 4:10) ALL: We thank you, Lord, and worship you with renewed gratitude. L: O God, you created us to love one another as Christ has loved us. We are concerned about all your children, those who live near us, and those who live far away. We are eager to participate in the work of the whole church and to further the ministry and service of this congregation. ALL: We are called to be your stewards. We thoughtfully shoulder our personal share of responsibility, and we pledge to witness to the Good News of Christ with our hearts and hands and voices. 5

L: We are confident in God s abundant love and care for us. ALL: We gladly give back to our Gracious God our whole lives, our time, our talents, and our financial resources. L: O God, throughout the ages you have challenged your people to step out in faith and follow you. You have put purpose and direction in the lives of your saints. We continue to set our feet on your pathway. Be our guide. Whisper in our ears when we need to make decisions. Hold us up if we start to stumble. May your Holy Spirit lead us in joyful song and fill us with eager anticipation. ALL: Amen. Holy Baptism of Brenna Solis Rosas page 227 ELW and projected on the wall Family, sponsors and children are invited to the front of the church Introduction L: God, who is rich in mercy and love, gives us a new birth into a living hope through the sacrament of baptism. The power of sin is put to death in this holy flood, and we are raised with Jesus Christ to a new life. We are united with all the baptized in the one body of Christ, anointed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and sent out in mission for the life of the world. Presentation L: Steve and Shannon, as you present Brenna for baptism, you are entrusted with gifts and responsibilities: to live with her among God s faithful people, bring her to the word of God and the holy supper, and nurture her in faith and prayer, so that she may learn to trust God, proclaim Christ through word and deed, care for others and the world God made, and work for justice and peace among all people Steve and Shannon do you promise to help Brenna grow in the Christian faith and life? Parent Response: I do 6

L: Juan and Kate, do you promise to nurture Brenna in the Christian faith, as you are empowered by God s Spirit, and to help her live in the covenant of baptism and in communion with the church? Sponsors Response: I do L: People of God, do you promise to support Brenna and pray for her in her new life in Christ? All: We do Renunciation of Evil L: As people of faith, we constantly live as sinners and saints. Do you renounce the devil and all the forces that defy God, the powers of this world that rebel against God, and the ways in which sin draw us away from God? All: We renounce them Invite Congregation to rise Profession of Faith L: With the whole church, let us confess our faith in the words of the Apostles Creed. Do you believe in God the Father? All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. L: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? All: I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third, he rose again. He ascended into heaven, 7

and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. L: Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? All: I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Thanksgiving at the Font L: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. All: It is right to give our thanks and praise. L: We give you thanks, O God, for in the beginning your Spirit moved over the waters and you created the world by your loving Word, calling forth life in which you took delight. Through the Red Sea you led your people Israel from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the promised land. In the waters of the Jordan, Jesus was baptized by John and anointed with the Holy Spirit. By the baptism of Jesus death and resurrection you deliver us from the power of sin and death and set us free to live in you. Send your Holy Spirit upon these waters that they might be your sign of living water. To you be given honor and praise through Jesus Christ our Lord, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever. All: Amen 8

Baptism L: Brenna Solis, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen. Laying on of Hands L: Let us pray. We give you thanks, O God, that through these Spirit-filled waters you welcome your children, cleanse them from sin, and raise them to eternal life. Sustain Brenna with the gift of your Holy Spirit and presence: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord, and a spirit of joy, both now and forever. All: Amen Signing of the Cross L: Brenna, child of God, you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever. All: Amen Presentation of Gifts (certificates, prayer shawl, candle, baptismal shell) LAM: Jesus said I am the Light of the world, whoever follows me will have the light of Life. May your light shine before others that they too may give glory to God. Welcome L: Let us welcome the newly baptized, Brenna Solis Rosas. Applause Holy Communion Gluten-free wafers and grape juice are available upon request L: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. L: Lift up your hearts. All: We lift them to the Lord. 9

L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. All: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Words of Institution L: It is indeed right our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, Almighty and Merciful God through our Savior Jesus Christ; who on this day overcame death and the grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so, with all the choirs of angels, with the church on earth and the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn. Holy, Holy, Holy page 190 ELW L: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord and Savior took bread, and gave thanks, broke it and gave it to his disciples saying, Take and eat: This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Again, after supper he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. Together, in this holy meal, we proclaim the Lord s coming, his death, and resurrection. ALL: Christ has died. Christ is Risen. Christ will come again. L: Gathered into one body through the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught: Lord s Prayer Projected on the wall Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. 10

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. Invitation to Communion L: Goodness is stronger than evil. Life is stronger than death. Taste the goodness and life of God.
