Bach Hymn All People that on Earth Do Dwell old hundredth 2

We gather in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Confession and Forgiveness God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and one another. Silence for reflection Gracious God, have mercy on us. We confess that we have turned from you and given ourselves into the power of sin. We are truly sorry and humbly repent. In your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things we have done and things we have failed to do. Turn us again to you, and uphold us by your Spirit, so that we may live and serve you in newness of life through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. God, who is rich in mercy, loved us while we were still sinners. Because of Jesus and his death and resurrection, I declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Let us worship in freedom and grace.. Thanks be to God. 3

Hymn I Then Shall Live finlandia The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day Merciful God, with steadfast love you draw us to yourself, and in mercy you receive our prayers. As we hear your word, give us insight to discern your will for us and to seek the way of the cross; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Anthem 10:30 How Deep the Father s Love for Us Townend; arr. Shackley New Dimension Singers 4

Lesson Hebrews 9:24-28 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, but he entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Holy Place year after year with blood that is not his own; for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for mortals to die once, and after that the judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. Commit your cause to the Lord; let him deliver let him rescue the one in whom he delights! WE INVITE CHILDREN TO DOCK AT THIS TIME Please make sure your child is wearing a nametag with name and grade level. ************* See FRONT OF INSERT for Pickup Locations ************** Anthem And Can It Be? And can it be that I should gain An int rest in the Savior s blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain For me, who Him to death pursued? Refrain: Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? Tis myst ry all: th Immortal dies: Who can explore His strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries To sound the depths of love divine. Tis mercy all! Let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more. He left His Father s throne above So free, so infinite His grace Emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam s helpless race: Dan Forrest St. Andrew s Choir Tis mercy all, immense and free, For, O my God, it found out me! Amazing love! How can it be? Long my imprisoned spirit lay, Fast bound in sin and nature s night; Thine eye diffused a quick ning ray I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee. No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine; Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness divine. Bold I approach th eternal throne, And claim the crown, through Christ my own. Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? 5

Psalm 22:1-5, 8 Read in unison My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer; and by night, but find no rest. Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. In you our ancestors trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them. To you they cried, and were saved; in you they trusted, and were not put to shame. Hymn Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross near the cross Sacrament of Holy Baptism 10:30 Addison Beatrice Marie Heid Daughter of Katelyn Warren and David Heid Gavin Drew Nielsen Son of Christine and Adam Nielsen Callen Daniel Kraemer Son of Amy and Chad Kraemer 6

Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Holy Gospel Mark 15:27-39 And with him they crucified two bandits, one on his right and one on his left. Those who passed by derided him, shaking their heads and saying, Aha! You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself, and come down from the cross! In the same way the chief priests, along with the scribes, were also mocking him among themselves and saying, He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down from the cross now, so that we may see and believe. Those who were crucified with him also taunted him. When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. At three o clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani? which means, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, Listen, he is calling for Elijah. And someone ran, filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink, saying, Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down. Then Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Now when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, Truly this man was God s Son! 7
