Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Fr. Tony O Neill, Pastor 2385 Commerce Blvd. Mound, MN 55364 952-472-1284 ourladyofthelake.com December 25 th, 2016 The Nativity of the Lord And the Word became flesh - John 1:14 Dear Brothers and Sisters, and January 1 st, 2017 Solemnity of Mary, The Holy Mother of God And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. - Luke 2:19 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. This is the message that the prophet Isaiah proclaimed. It is the central message of the gospel that Jesus has come and lightened our darkness. This is our reason for great rejoicing. As we welcome Christ in this season, let us pray with Saint John Paul II who prayed; O Child, who willed to have for your crib a manger; O Creator of the universe, who stripped yourself of divine glory; O Redeemer, who offered your vulnerable body in sacrifice for the salvation of humanity: may the radiance of your birth light up the night of the world. You come to bring us peace. You are our peace! In the luminous silence of your Nativity, you, Emmanuel, continue to speak to us. And we are ready to listen to you. Amen! God bless, Fr. Tony

About Liturgy: How do we do liturgy? Our bearing is that of piety in the presence of God. We come to liturgy with a spirit of openness, acknowledging that God is the center of our life. Our mannerisms rub off on each other and actually are a ministry of the assembly. On Sunday, January 1 st, we celebrate the Feast of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. We ask Our Lady to bless our New Year and our new calendars. LIGHT FOR THE WEEK: O God, who wonderfully created the dignity of human nature and still more wonderfully restored it, grant, we pray, that we may share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity. -Christmas Collect, Mass During the Day We pray for those in need. Discipleship Faith In Action Stewardship Thought for December 25 th, 2016 And the Word became flesh - John 1:14 Jesus is God s ultimate gift of love to us. The countless other blessings that God showers upon us are nothing compared to the gift of His only Son. The only appropriate way for us to respond to such generous love is with our own generous love. When we dedicate our lives to sharing all the gifts God has placed in our hands, the peace of Christ truly will control our hearts and we will know Christmas joy every day. Stewardship Thought for January 1 st, 2017 And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. - Luke 2:19 Mary is the perfect role model for living a stewardship lifestyle. She listened to God and said yes to His invitation to be the Holy Mother of His Son. She also trusted in God s providence on a daily basis. As we start a new year, take time every day to listen to how God is calling you; trust that He has a better plan for you than you could ever imagine.
