(Picture 1) LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN Uruguay is a country filled with people who do not believe in God. In fact, Uruguay is officially an atheistic nation, as stated in its constitution. But there are some people there who are open to the message of God s love the children. (Picture 2) One day in February (February is summertime in Uruguay), missionaries Trent and Tina Morrow held the first-ever Club de la Adventura (Adventure Club) kids camp in the city of Montevideo. For six months they had trained leaders from several churches in how to conduct an Adventure Club children s church service and how to minister to children. The leaders learned how to teach children about salvation, about God s love, the fruit of the Spirit, and the Holy Spirit. (Picture 3) This Adventure Club kids camp in Montevideo was the first of its kind in Uruguay. The theme was Live the Adventure with the Holy Spirit. Missionaries Trent and Tina hoped to see kids of all the different Adventure Clubs receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. (Picture 4) When the kids arrived at the camp, they were each given a camp T-shirt with the logo Club de Adventura. The camp lasted three days and two nights. All day long the kids were taught about the Holy Spirit. In the afternoons they played water sports. Every night there was a kids service with praise and worship, puppets, a sermon with object lessons, a memory verse, and an altar service. (Picture 5) URUGUAY The first night, the kids were invited to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior, or to rededicate their lives to the Lord. The second evening was the focus on the Holy Spirit. The kids were invited to come forward to pray to receive the baptism in the 281
(Picture 6) (Picture 7) (Picture 8) (Picture 9) (Picture 10) Holy Spirit. Many were filled with the Spirit right then! Others received the Holy Spirit after they returned to their home church some during the adult services and others during their own children s church services. (Picture 6) The last service of Adventure Club camp was held on Sunday morning. The missionaries preached about Jesus calming your fears. Many children came forward to be prayed for. Many had come from broken homes. Some were afraid to return to school because of bullies or physical abuse or other troubles. (Picture 7) When the camp was over and the children returned to their own churches, the testimonies began pouring in. One pastor shared with Trent and Tina how he had seen such a difference in the lives of the children. He wanted to use those children to pray for the people in his church who needed healing or who had other needs. So he announced to his church that if anyone had an illness or a need, they should come forward because God wanted the children to pray for them. (Picture 8) One elderly lady in the church refused to come forward. She didn t believe that a child s prayer would heal her. But the pain in her inner ear was so great that she finally rose from her seat and asked the pastor if he would pray for her. (Picture 9) The pastor said, No, God said to have the children pray for you. The lady still didn t believe it would work, but finally she agreed to let one of the girls pray for her. To her amazement, her ear was healed! The pain was gone! She had been suffering all week with this infection, but after the girl prayed for her, the infection was gone! (Picture 10) God is using the children of Uruguay by the power of the Holy Spirit. More and more children are coming to Jesus and receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit every year. God desires to let the little children come to Him and be His hand extended, showing His love to other children and to adults as well. BGMC is a big help with the running of these kids camps. BGMC supplies the children s ministries materials, the camp supplies, and scholarships for kids to attend. Thanks, kids, for giving to BGMC! Your giving is making a difference in Uruguay!
