Twining; 2008 Sovereign Grace; CCLI License #152421 ALL I HAVE IS CHRIST I once was lost in darkest night, yet thought I knew the way. The sin that promised joy and life had led me to the grave. I had no hope that you would own a rebel to your will, And if you had not loved me first, I would refuse you still. But as I ran my hell-bound race, indifferent to the cost, You looked upon my helpless state and led me to the cross. And I beheld God s love displayed, you suffered in my place. You bore the wrath reserved for me now all I know is grace. Chorus: Hallelujah, all I have is Christ. Hallelujah, Jesus is my life. Hallelujah, all I have is Christ. Hallelujah, Jesus is my life. We celebrate God s work in our community and world We give thanks to God and bring our needs to him TESTIMONY OF GOD S GRACE Vacation Bible School CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER You can join us in praying for our community and world this morning; the Flock Notes are on page 9 in your worship guide. We acknowledge our need of forgiveness Now Lord, I would be yours alone and live so all might see The strength to follow your commands could never come from me. Oh Father use my ransomed life in any way you choose, And let my song forever be: my only boast is you. Chorus 2x CCLI Song #5174122; Words & Music by J. 4 OFFERTORY LET US EVER WALK WITH JESUS Chancel Choir (Sanctuary) Let us ever walk with Jesus, follow his example pure, Through a world that would deceive us, where to sin our hearts are lured. Ever in his footsteps treading, living here, yet home above, full of faith and hope and love, Let us do our Father s bidding, faithful Lord, abide with me; Savior lead, I follow thee. Let us also die with Jesus, by his cross he conquered death. Freed us from our soul s destruction, quickened us with life s new breath. Let us mortify while living, self and pride, and die to sin, and the grave that shuts us in Shall but prove the gate to heaven. Jesus, here I die to thee, there to dwell eternally. Let us gladly live with Jesus, he is risen from the dead. Death is swallowed up in victory, Jesus, thou art now our head. Living members of thy Body, where thou livest, we shall be. Thou wilt keep us constantly, so dear Lord, come quickly, Jesus, here I live to thee. There to dwell eternally. Let us ever walk with Jesus. Text by Sigismund von Birken, 1653; music by Georg Boltze, 18thcent.; arr. Dan Forrest; 2012 Hinshaw Music 2012 FACING A TASK UNFINISHED Congregation (Fellowship Hall) Facing a task unfinished, that drives us to our knees. A need that, undiminished, rebukes our slothful ease. We, who rejoice to know thee, renew before thy throne The solemn pledge we owe thee: to go and make thee known. Where other lords beside thee hold their unhindered sway; Where forces that defied thee defy thee still today. With none to heed their crying for life, and love, and light, Unnumbered souls are dying and pass into the night. Chorus: We go to all the world with kingdom hope unfurled. No other name has power to save but Jesus Christ the Lord. We bear the torch that, flaming, fell from the hands of those Who gave their lives proclaiming that Jesus died and rose. Ours is the same commission, the same glad message ours; Fired by the same ambition, to thee we yield our powers. Chorus O Father who sustained them, O Spirit who inspired, Savior, whose love constrained them to toil with zeal untired. From cowardice defend us, from lethargy awake! Forth on thine errands send us to labour for thy sake. Chorus 2x CCLI Song #7002026; Original Words by F. Houghton; New Words by K. & K. Getty, E. Cash, & F. De Barra; Music by S. Wesley & K. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire. 25 But Abraham replied, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us. 27 He answered, Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment. 29 Abraham replied, They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them. 30 No, father Abraham, he said, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent. 31 He said to him, If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead. Leader: This is the Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God! 5
We ready our hearts to receive the preaching of God s word SONG OF PREPARATION SATISFIED All my life long I had panted for a drink from some cool spring That I hoped would quench the burning of the thirst I felt within. We respond to God s word through song SONG OF SENDING MIGHTY TO SAVE Everyone needs compassion, love that s never failing. Let mercy fall on me. Everyone needs forgiveness, the kindness of a Savior, the hope of nations. Chorus: Hallelujah! He has found me, the One my soul so long has craved! Jesus satisfies all my longings; through his blood I now am saved. Feeding on the filth around me til my strength was almost gone. Longed my soul for something better, only still to hunger on. Chorus Poor I was and sought for riches, something that would satisfy. But the dust I gathered round me only mocked my soul s sad cry. Chorus Well of water, ever springing, Bread of Life so rich and free. Untold wealth that never faileth, my Redeemer is to me. Chorus 2x Through his blood I now am saved. Words by C.T. Williams, 1875; Music by K. Digerness, 1997; Arr. by M. Choi, 2010; 1997 Karl Digerness Music; CCLI License #152421 Chorus 1: Savior, he can move the mountains. My God is mighty to save. He is mighty to save. Forever, Author of salvation, he rose and conquered the grave. Jesus conquered the grave. So take me as you find me, all my fears and failures. Fill my life again. I give my life to follow, everything I believe in, now I surrender. Chorus 1 Bridge: Shine your light and let the whole world see. We re singing for the glory of the risen King. Jesus, shine your light and let the whole world see. We re singing for the glory of the risen King. Chorus 1 Chorus 2: You re my Savior, you can move the mountains. God, you are mighty to save, you are mighty to save. Forever, author of salvation. You rose and conquered the grave. Yes, you conquered the grave. CCLI Song #4591782; Words and Music by R.
