The Knights of Columbus, St. Joe's Sylvania is sponsoring a lecture about the Reformation. Five-hundred years ago, a German friar challenged the Western Church s sacramental practices and teachings, Church authority, and justification before God. His 95 theses sent shock waves throughout Christianity and led to the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth-century. Who was Martin Luther? What practices and teachings of the Western Church prompted his challenge? What kind of Reformation did Luther intend? Join us on March 23 at 7:30 PM in St. Joseph s Church, immediately following the Stations of the Cross, as Knights of Columbus Council 5628 presents Geoffrey J. Grubb, Ph.D., who will highlight the major questions and issues of the period. Everyone, regardless of faith or denomination, is invited. There will be no fee for the presentation, but Knights of Columbus Council 5628 requests that attendees bring one canned good for a Lenten donation to local food pantries. Geoffrey J. Grubb, Ph.D., is Provost and Professor of Theological Studies at Lourdes University. He holds a doctorate in Historical Theology from Saint Louis University. Tired of writing checks? It s not too late to sign up for automatic withdrawal for your contributions. Sign up forms are available in the parish office. We are happy to mail out a form to you if you wish.
