With a New Year Comes a Significant Departure Dear Friends in Christ, Thank you for making my second Christmas here at St. Joseph Church such a joyfully memorable one. I received so many compliments on the church decorations and the music that was offered. This was definitely a team effort. The following groups of parishioners made it all happen: The church decorators, music ministry, liturgical ministers, greeters, ushers, altar servers, and of course, every parishioner who attended! I am also grateful for your generous Christmas offering and support of the 2nd Collection, which went towards paying down the balance due for the new restrooms in the church. Finally, I want to thank every member of our parish staff (some twenty strong), for without all their hard work-very often work that goes unseen-our Christmas Masses would not have gone so smoothly. Regarding this wonderful staff, with a new year, comes a significant departure from our pastoral staff as well. Archbishop Lori has named Deacon Tim Maloney Pastoral Administrator of St. Thomas Aquinas Church-effective January 15th, 2018. In this new position, Deacon Tim will be responsible for the day-today operations of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Having served as a seminarian in the summer of 2003 at St. Thomas Aquinas, I can personally attest to the vibrant faith of the parishioners. Situated in the heart of Hampden, St. Thomas Aquinas Church has been a source of grace and strength for the residents of that portion of Baltimore City for over one hundred and fifty years now. Let us pray that Deacon Tim will receive the grace and support that he needs during this time of transition. While this news came about quite unexpectedly and quickly for all of us, we do have time to say goodbye and thank Deacon Tim for his service to our community, both as a deacon and as our Pastoral Associate for Faith Formation. On Saturday, January 13th, at 5:30pm, the parish will be hosting a dinner reception to thank Deacon Tim for his years of service here. Please RSVP to the office if you plan on attending. I will keep you abreast of any updates regarding the filling of the Faith Formation position as well as the assignment of a new Permanent Deacon to fill the void of Deacon Tim s absence. I would ask that you keep Deacon Tim s wife Meghan in your prayers, as well as their two children, Connor and Paige. While the Maloneys intend to remain St. Joseph Church parishioners, Deacon Tim will no longer serve here on the weekends, as he will be serving at St. Thomas Aquinas. Let us entrust this New Year to the care and intercession of Mary, the Mother of God. Praying you have a healthy and grace-filled 2018,

As someone has profoundly put it, People may not always believe what you say, but they will always believe what you do. So our effort is to live as Jesus asked us to live when He gave the criteria for entering the kingdom of God, I was hungry and you fed me; thirsty and you gave me something to drink; naked and you clothed me; in prison and you visited me; a stranger and you took me in Put simply, the best way to show our belief in God is To Order A Copy of Fr.
