Father Ken s Notes 2 WHAT YOU VIEW AS GOOD AND WHAT YOU VIEW AS BAD - IS A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE Our Professor used to talk about the crazy twists and turns of life. What you see as a good thing for you but may be seen as a bad thing for someone else. One day our Professor gave us - his students an amazing example, proving his words. We heard our Professor talking to one mother. How is your daughter doing? My dear daughter! She is so happy. She has a wonderful husband! He gave her a car, bought her jewelry that she dreamed about, hired servants for her. They serve her breakfast in bed, and she stays in bed until noon. He s not a husband, but a prize! And how s your son? My poor son! He married a real grouch! He gave her everything that she wanted: a car, jewelry, an army of servants. And she is lying in bed until noon...and doesn t even get up to make breakfast for her husband! She is a real dud. Father Ken Congratulations to Gavin Windows (pictured with Father Ken) who received his First Holy Communion on April 24. Congratulations to Kaylee Armando & Alexa Armando (pictured with Father Ken) who received their First Holy Communion on May 7.

FOOD BANK REPORT 5 FILL A GLASS WITH HOPE Beginning January 2016, SMM Food Bank has been receiving fresh milk from the Westmoreland County Food Bank through Turner s Dairy. Our Food Bank was chosen as a pilot pantry for the Fill a Glass with Hope project in Westmoreland County. Westmoreland Food Bank, partnering with Feeding Pennsylvania, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association, PA Dairy Promotion Program, and the PA Dairyman s Association, has become a part of a first-ever state-wide charitable milk program, Fill a Glass with Hope. This program provides families in need with the essential nutrients that milk provides for good health. In 2016 including Westmoreland County, this program has been expanded to include all eight Food Banks regions that make up the Feeding PA network. Since we were the pilot pantry, we were invited to speak at the formal launch of this program in Westmoreland County. We were proud to represent St. Margaret Mary s Parish and speak at this program launch along with the Secretary of PA Department of Agriculture, representatives from Feeding PA, MDA and PA Dairy Promotion Program, PA Dairymen s Association (including Chuck Turner from Turner s Dairy) local farmers that supply the milk to Turner s Dairy, WCFB Chief Executive Officer, and some local State Representatives. It was an exciting day for us and St. Margaret Mary s to be part of this important ground breaking event in Westmoreland County. As we stated at the program, Milk is a staple of life, starting from infancy and continuing throughout our life. We are so grateful to all who have contributed in making this program a reality for the PA Food Bank families...especially the children. We are truly blessed here at St. Margaret Mary s! We thank all of our volunteers, Fr. Ken, Fr. Greg, the staff, and the support of our parish family for your help to carry out this ministry to feed the hungry in our community. THANK YOU!!
