I need to let you know that I have resigned from my position as Director of Religious Education. The last 4.5 years here have been very special for me, both professionally and personally. Before coming to work here, I had never been inside this church. Your warm welcome and ongoing support have been key elements in the growth faith formation programs. Directing the PRE program, developing and teaching the Confirmation class, offering adult faith formation classes and book studies, as well as teaching in the school, have all been tremendous experiences. I have been so blessed to be part of this community and I am so grateful to you. In addition to all professional experiences, I met my husband and was married here. As a lifelong member of St. Anthony, his devotion to this church and the community here has been inspiring to me. We have made many friends here and will continue to attend St. Anthony as parishioners. (Yep, you won t be getting rid of me completely!) I d like to give a special thank you to my friend and office mate, Marilu Mendez. Marilu has been at my side in the last few years, developing our unique religious education program around the amazing growth in the Hispanic community here. Without her, we could not have grown the way we have, over doubling in size and serving all families at St. Anthony, both Anglo and Hispanic. All catechists have made this growth possible and I am proud of our program. Monsignor Chiodo, you know how much I admire and respect you. I thank you for bringing me here and allowing me the privilege of serving this parish. I often say you are our own Fulton Sheen. I am most certain no better homilist could be found. And I so appreciate your keeping alive the memories of my childhood and beloved relatives from this neighborhood. You are a historian and a gifted story teller. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you ve done for me and my family. And so, as we welcome the birth of our Savior, we can all look forward to new beginnings and cherished traditions. Thank you, families of St. Anthony. I wish you a blessed Christmas and wonderful New Year! Yours In Christ, Melissa

Men's Exodus 90 Informational Meeting What? Exodus 90 was designed by Fr. Brian Doerr, founder of Those Catholic Men, to help men break bad habits & form virtues in 90 days through physical training, prayer and asceticism. Why? Exodus 90 is all about freedom. Why? Because without freedom, we cannot love as we ought. It s about our wives, children, parishes and friends who suffer when we re not at our best. The goal is to achieve the freedom necessary to fully engage the love of God and the love of neighbor. Who? I'm looking for 3-6 men to join me in this endeavor. It is particularly relevant for those who are: Discerning a vocation, Preparing for marriage, Struggling with an addiction When and Where? 12/27 @ 6pm : Informational meeting in the new sacristy following Holy Mass. Website: Exodus90.com Contact Jacob Heflin at 816.273.4792 or jacobpheflin@gmail.com for more information. St Vincent DePaul would like to thank everyone who helped make the Holidays better for 51 families: The staff and all the children, they donated food and money, some also helped on Sat. the 16th putting everything together and transporting the food and toys to the cars Every one who contributed gifts, we could not have done this without you. It is a tedious job and everyone donated time and talents with a joyful heart. If I left anyone out, please know we appreciate what everyone has done. Thank you once again, Helene Wilson 3.
