MUSIC MINISTRY NEWS Parish Mass Headcount What Did We Learn? Adult Choir A few weeks ago I explained that the Bishop s Office has asked Thanks to ALL the members of our adult choir who sang at the 9:00 every Parish in the Diocese to count the number of persons attending am mass last Sunday! Our group is now practicing for our parish every weekend Mass during the first four weekends in November. Advent/Christmas concert, which will be held on Sunday December The numbers are in 13 th in the church. We meet each Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 Pm in the church. The adult choir sings most Sundays at the Using averages for the four weeks of November: 9:00 Am mass and occasionally at the 10:45 Am mass. The adult Mass with the highest attendance: 5:00 pm (average 321.5 people choir also sings for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, Holy Week, per Mass) The Easter Vigil and several other liturgical celebrations throughout Mass with the second highest attendance: 10:45 am (average 316.25 the year. Our next rehearsal will be on Wednesday December 9 th people per Mass) at 7:30 P m in the church. New members (Including high school students) are welcome to join! Curious about the others? 7:00 pm average 135.25 people per Mass 7:00 am average 128 people per Mass 9:00 am average 301.75 people per Mass 12:15 pm average 278.75 people per Mass The average number of people at the six weekend Masses as 1,481.5. If that sounds like a lot of people consider that there are 3,109 registered families (families, not people; assuming an average of 2.54 people per family, that s 7896.86 people) in the parish. What you may not realize is that when we counted, we counted everyone not just people in the pews we counted: the Priest; the Deacon, if any; Altar Servers; the Organist; the Cantor, the members of the Choir; the Extraordinary Ministers; the Lector; Ushers (whether or not wearing the red jacket); people standing; people in the crying room. What else did we observe? More people sit in the back two sections of the Church than in the front two sections. With respect to the front, more people tend to sit in the front left (organ side) than in the front right Mary side) section. The back two sections are fairly equally filled. So, if you are running late for Mass and want to get a seat head up to one of the front sections! A THANK YOU The Knights of Columbus Council 6571 would like to thank the parishioners of St. John Vianney for their support in the recent Blood Drive and Alzheimer s donation. We had many new donors this year, and for every pint of blood that was given, potentially three lives are saved. 100% of the Alzheimer s donations goes for research and respite care. Thank you and God Bless. ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY The November poor box contained $1,835.00. This amount includes a $10.00 gift card from Foodtown. The Thanksgiving collections (Wednesday Vigil and Thanksgiving Day) contained $2,064. Thank you... and may God continue to bless you and your families for your generosity Children s Choir Thanks to all the students who came out to sing for Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Evergreen Center this past Thursday! We are singing this Sunday December 6 th at the 9:00 am family mass. All are invited to join us after mass for breakfast in the school cafeteria. The children s choir generally meets for practice on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 Pm in the church. The group sings twice a month at either the 9:00 or 10:45 Am mass! Our next practice will be on Tuesday December 8 th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the church. We are now practicing for the parish Christmas Pageant as well as the 4:00 pm family mass on Christmas Eve! We will also be singing one more time during Advent, on Sunday December 20 th at the 10:45 am mass. All children in the parish from 2nd grade and up are welcome to join!!
