Unfortunately, this means that she will be departing Holy Angels as principal as of June 30, 2010. Ms.Winterberger has spent the past 38 years serving our children both as teacher for 20 years and as principal for the past 18 years. She has been at Holy Angels for the past 9 years and has made many contributions to our school community and to the Diocese of Wilmington. Her leadership has established Holy Angels as a Catholic school of excellence. We are grateful for her commitment to Catholic education and to our Holy Angels community. She will be missed. Her new position as Associate Director for the Middle States Commission for Elementary Schools puts her in the role of overseeing the accreditation process for all Catholic Elementary Schools in DE, MD, PA, NJ, NY, DC, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It is truly a promotion and advancement in her career. In collaboration with the Superintendent, Catherine Weaver, the decision was made to name an interim principal for the 2010-2011 school year. The policies and procedures for the process of selecting a principal will be implemented during next school year. I am happy to announce that Mrs. Barbara Snively will assume the position and role of interim principal for the 2010-2011 school year. Barbara has served as both Math Specialist and Vice-Principal at Holy Angels School since 2002. Both of Barbara s and Steve s (her husband) sons, Brandon and Craig, graduated from Holy Angels School. Prior to relocating to Delaware, she served as vice-principal in an elementary school in Richmond, VA. She brings solid administrative experience to this position at Holy Angels. Please join with me in congratulating Ms. Denise Winterberger, as she moves into the next phase of her life and for her dedication to our Catholic elementary schools and join with me in welcoming Mrs. Barbara Snively as interim principal of Holy Angels School for the 2010-2011 school year. Meetings for information/registration will be held at 7:00 PM in Holy Angels Church on the following dates: June 8 OR June 16 OR Aug. 18 OR Aug. 25 Candidate and a parent must attend ONE of these meetings. More information can be found on the Parish website under Religious and Sacramental Education for Children/Sacrament Prep. The Dear Confirmation Family letter provides more specific information as to what is needed to complete the registration process. Come Grow With Us! We are pleased to announce the creation of Holy Angels Community Garden in the area behind the Parish Center. The garden was blessed by Father Ralph on May 15 th. The 20 plots have been planted by their owners with tomatos, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, etc. Two of the plots are designated as true community plots with the produce to be given to needy families. It has taken a year to reach this point. Gustavo tilled the 50 x100 area and mixed in mushroom soil. He and his helpers erected a fence to keep out the wildlife. Deacon Heriberto hooked up a temporary watering system. Alexander s donated mulch. Miguel mulched the main garden pathway. Lois and Marie planted vegetables in the community garden plots. Walter Carpenter State Park donated a rustic-looking kiosk (message board). And many others labored industriously. It truly is a community garden and a joy to see. Take a walk up the hilll and see it for yourself! We get excited with each new sprout and rejoice in the Lord. It does take a village to raise a garden. If you can t garden yourself, be a part of our joy. 1. Pray for a productive garden. 2. Make a donation for a more secure watering system. 3. Help us pay for the fencing to keep out the critters. 4. Donate a picnic table and benches so gardeners can rest and refresh themselves. 5. Build/donate a small wooden bridge to go over the ditch to the garden. 6. If you have other thoughts, call Lois, 454-9412, or Marie, 547-8521. A garden can be a place of healing and spiritual encounters where God restores our bodies and spirits. Join us! Used Uniform Sale On Wednesday, June 9 th, Holy Angels School will once again hold its annual Used Uniform Sale from 6:00 7:30 p.m. in Fremont Hall. Rush Uniforms will ONLY be accepted for sale for students except for High School Uniforms. Holy Angels School students are required to purchase and wear Rush Uniform pieces as outlined in the school handbook. For the second year in a row, we will be also selling High School Uniforms. High School Uniforms will be accepted and sold from all of the area Catholic High Schools (St. Mark s, Padua, St. Elizabeth s, Salesianum, Archmere). Since this is only our second year, our inventory of High School uniforms is low however we are looking to increase by attracting more sellers. Please pass the word along to anyone with graduation seniors!!! We also cannot monitor your high school s uniform policy, so please be aware of requirements before selling or purchasing. Scout uniforms will also be accepted. Remember uniform pieces, especially pants and shorts, may be able to be used for other schools requiring a dress code. For those wishing to sell uniforms, please drop off uniforms on Tuesday, June 8 th from 6:00 7:30 p.m. in Fremont Hall. Uniforms for sale need to be marked with the seller s name, price (usually 1/3 of original price) and whether or not you want the items returned or donated to the school. If you want your items returned, please provide an inventory list as well. Questions, please call Nancy Trent, 737-1842 or email cmats@holyangels.net.

Coming Soon to our Parish! A Unique and Exciting Way for Us To Grow The Kingdom of God (Our Parish) AND Parishioner Businesses Through an innovative fundraising business model we will be calling the PARISH BUSINESS COMMUNITY Goal Why Premise Grow the Kingdom of God AND parishioner businesses. Because when parishioner businesses grow and prosper, so can the Kingdom of God (our Parish). Many parishioner companies have been significantly impacted by the economic downturn. If we can create a business model to encourage parishioners to patronize parish businesses, we believe companies can generate significant incremental revenues. In other words, we can help each other survive & thrive. Benefits Significantly increase parish donations (Has the potential to increase current donations by 100%) Actively help parishioner businesses grow and prosper. Promote parish kindness and caring through a business model built on Christian values, loyalty and stewardship to one another. Accelerate the funding of many critical projects within our parish. How It Will Work Contact 1. St. John-Holy Angels parishioners register in the Parish Business Community website (under development). 2. Once approved, a registered parishioner can register their company. 3. In return for parishioner loyalty and patronage, each registered company will agree to donate to St. John-Holy Angels Parish anywhere from 3% - 10% of incremental revenues. 4. Parishioners (the spender) who buy goods and services from a business registered in the Parish Business Community will be able to direct those donations to their favorite parish project. 5. Parish Council and Finance Council will post all priority fundraising projects. 6. Registered businesses with the HIGHEST customer satisfaction ratings and donation percentages stand to gain the most incremental business.
