Parish Life AMORIS LAETITIA "Desires, feelings, emo ons, what the ancients called the passions, all have an important place in married life." N. 143 The Second Va can Council Teaches that this conjugal love embraces the good of the whole person; it can enrich the sen ments of the spirit and their physical expression with a unique dignity and ennoble then as the special features and manifesta on of the friendship proper to marriage. For this reason, love lacking either pleasure or passion is insufficient to symbolize the union of the human heart with God: All the mys cs have affirmed that supernatural love, and heavenly love find the symbols which they seek in marital love, rather than in friendship, filial devo on or devo on to a cause. And the reason is to be found preciously in its totality. (n. 142) April 8: As we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, find a charitable activity to do together as a couple or a family. NO ONE DIES ALONE (NODA) Members of St. Peter Chanel Parish are trying to form a group to serve the dying. This service would provide support to the residents of the Borderview Nursing home who do not have family to stay with them during the final days of life. If you are interested in participating in this service please contact Rachel Levesque at 868-3048. Leave a message after the 4th ring if no one is home. Maine Catholic Women s Conference on May 5 The Maine Catholic Women s Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland on Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference will feature dynamic speakers, the "His Own" music ministry, Mass, adoration, and vendors. This year's keynote speaker is Sister Miriam James Heidland, SOLT, who has traveled throughout the world inviting others to deepen their relationship with God. The conference will also feature a talk by Colleen Stratton, a victim-survivor of human trafficking and a member of the outreach team for Eye Heart World, a nonprofit dedicated to combatting human trafficking. The cost of the conference is $55 for those who register by April 6 and $60 afterwards. Continental breakfast and lunch are included. Registration is now open!
