EASTER CELEBRATION OF THE RESURRECTION APRIL 1, 2018 7:00 AM SANCTUARY PORCH
EASTER April 1, 2018 7:00 am Sunrise Worship Welcome to all who are worshipping with us. Easter is the oldest and greatest of the Christian festivals. It has always been regarded as the chief and most joyous of the observances of the church, commemorating the resurrection of Christ and the restoration of life to the world which sin had ruined. WELCOME & OPENING PRAYER READING Mark 16:1-8 SUNG CONFESSION Forgive Us Gary Rand and Hannah Rand (Congregation joins in on the chorus as part of our confession together) We try, we fail. Do too little too late. We wish we could walk away. We hurt. We re hurt. Nothing seems to work. We don t know what to say. Chorus: Forgive us. Forgive us. We know not what we do. Be with us. Be with us. We don t know what to do. What s wrong. What s right. Hard to see without sight. Blindly we come to You. Chorus We don t know how to pray here. Stay here. All we hope is you re here. Help us. Seek Justice. Love Mercy. Walk humbly, here. Chorus ASSURANCE OF PARDON READING Mark 16:1-8 REFLECTION Jeremy Jinkins SONG Christ Has No Body Arr. Porter s Gate Worship Project (Congregation joins in second time through) Christ has no body now but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes with which He sees, Yours are the feet with which He walks, Yours are the hands with which He blesses all the world: Yours are the hands. [2] *Those who are able, please stand.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. READING Mark 16:1-8 REFLECTION Jeremy Jinkins *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Summons John L. Bell Will you come and follow me if I but call your name? Will you go where you don t know and never be the same? Will you let my love be shown? Will you let my name be known, Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me? Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me? Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name? Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same? Will you kiss the leper clean and do such as this unseen, And admit to what I mean in you and you in me? Will you love the you you hide if I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same? Will you use the faith you ve found to reshape the world around, Through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me? Lord your summons echoes true when you but call my name. Let me turn and follow you and never be the same. In Your company I ll go where your love and footsteps show. Thus I ll move and live and grow in you and you in me. *CHARGE AND BENEDICTION CONCLUDING VOLUNTARY For those who would like to offer a gift, a collection plate will be left on the table following the service.
