Facility Expansion Campaign Good Hope Baptist Church
Good Hope Baptist Church 1 Letter from Pastor Josh Dear Good Hope Members and Friends, Together We Grow is more than a capital campaign. These are exciting days at Good Hope! Our membership has grown, lives are being transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is moving in our services each Sunday. I praise God for the opportunity to be your Pastor, and I also praise God for how uniquely God has blessed our church. Many of us realize that God has placed us in a strategic position to reach others with the gospel, more than we ever have. We also realize that we need to build in order to expand our biblicallygrounded ministries that will grow together with our community for years to come. I am excited that we are responding to God s will for our church at this time by launching a capital campaign called Together We Grow. Together We Grow is more than a capital campaign. It s about the future of our church and what God wants to do through each of us individually, as families and as a church to reach this generation and beyond for His glory and to expand His kingdom! Though God doesn t need us to accomplish His work, He DOES desire to involve us in the work. The book of Acts describes how the first-century Christians were given a great assignment from Jesus to be His witnesses, and Acts 2:1 tells us that they were all together in one place (NIV). When they were gathered together, united physically and spiritually, God moved, and the Church was birthed on the Day of Pentecost. The only way we will see the vision of God accomplished in our time is to work together for the glory of God. Philippians 1:27 says, You are working together and struggling side-by-side, to get others to believe the Good News (CEV). I want you to take a moment and envision what God wants to do (and can do) through Good Hope as we work together united in spirit and in vision. Can He count on you? Can He count on Good Hope? He has been able to count on us in the past, and I pray this season will prove to be one where He discovers He can count on us once again! With Love and Appreciation for You, Pastor Josh You are working together and struggling side-by-side, to get others to believe the Good News Philippians 1:27 (CEV).

Good Hope Baptist Church 3 Where We ve Been I look back over the faithfulness of people who came before us and followed the will of God for their time, and I think, When God guides, God provides! We have seen God provide in response to our faith and obedience in the past. In 1880, believers saw the need to have a church in the Carpenter community, and the birth of Good Hope Baptist Church followed. In 1959, church members saw the need to build a larger sanctuary and educational space was completed in the early 1960 s. When God guides, God provides!
Good Hope Baptist Church 4 We ve seen the Lord challenge us before, and we have responded every time. In 2000, our church followed God s leadership to build our Family Life Center and expand our land, which we have now and enjoy! In 2007, our church launched the Burn That Note Campaign, where we obeyed God in raising $890,000 to completely pay off the FLC and land purchase. Now, the Lord is challenging us once again. We honor the past when we walk by faith towards the future! May we exemplify the same courage and boldness as we respond to the will of God for our church in this critical hour. We honor the past when we walk by faith towards the future!
Where We re Going Together We Grow is a conviction that we must grow with our community. As we venture out from the four walls of our church, we recognize that the Great Commission has come to our door step. Our community is growing in diversity and numerically. 60,000 people are projected to live within a three-mile radius of our church by the year 2017. We have an obligation to grow in our influence outside of these four walls. You and I need to be equipped to be salt and light in our schools, neighborhoods and workplaces. We also must prepare our facilities for this growth. Good Hope faced this issue before, and together we built our Family Life Center. Because we have a mandate from Jesus to reach all peoples within our community, we must expand our ministries and influence immediately. We are proud that Good Hope is an intergenerational church, full of children, teenagers, adults and senior adults as well. We must provide safe and accessible facilities where all of us can continue to grow as one church body. WE HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO GROW IN OUR INFLUENCE OUTSIDE OF THESE FOUR WALLS.
Good Hope Baptist Church 6 Together We Grow...is a commitment that we will continue to engage in biblically-grounded ministries, no matter how far this culture goes. As we look around at the shifting sands of today s culture, our thoughts are, Oh God, how far we have drifted away from Your Truth! 20% of Americans and 33% of adults under 30 have no religious affiliation. There are right now over 13 million atheists and agnostics. Children outside the church no longer have a Christian memory. Your next door neighbor doesn t know the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule or even Who Jesus is! In a world where the sand is shifting, Good Hope Baptist Church will continue to be grounded in the Word of God. When people come to Good Hope, they can be guaranteed to hear the saving message of Jesus Christ! We have multiple world views all around us, but we will continue to stand on one view that is grounded in God s Word! Our children need to learn about Jesus. If we don t provide a space for boys and girls to come and learn about the Bible and about Who Jesus is, they will drift right along with the culture around and ultimately be lost, eternally separated from God. We must enlarge our children s ministry and impact NOW. Today s Culture 20% Americans 33% Adults
Good Hope Baptist Church 7 Our Building Plans In order to provide adequate space for the present needs of our children s ministry and educational space, we are going to build two buildings that will expand and connect our current facilities and give us the space we need to grow. The Children s Building will provide 11,100 sq. ft. of children s space that will significantly add Sunday School classrooms, AWANA classrooms, weekday preschool classrooms and room to grow. The Connecting Building will provide 11,473 sq. ft. for two stories of educational classrooms for adults, an elevator and bathrooms. This building will connect our Sanctuary and Educational space with our Family Life Center. Both of these buildings will provide our current Family Life Center classrooms the opportunity to be repurposed for Older Adult classrooms and other ministry needs.

Good Hope Baptist Church 9 How We ll Get There Our project will cost $3.5-4.5 million to complete. To get started we need to raise $1,000,000. To do this we are asking every family to give a first fruits offering on May 1, 2016 and make a 36-Month financial commitment above what we currently give to Good Hope through our tithes and offerings. If each active family would give approximately $6500 over this three-year period, we would reach our goal. This is approximately $42.00 a week. However, we realize it does t always work this way. Some families simply can t make this level of commitment while others can do so much more. Our goal is equal sacrifice, not equal gifts. Here s what reaching our goal might look like for our church family. CAMPAIGN GIVING GOALS GIFT $ RANGES # OF GIFTS PLEDGES $ 500 9 $ 4,500 $ 1,000 10 $ 10,000 $ 2,500 38 $ 95,000 $ 5,000 52 $ 260,000 $ 7,500 24 $ 180,000 $ 10,000 15 $ 150,000 $ 15,000 3 $ 45,000 $ 25,000 2 $ 50,000 $ 50,000 1 $ 50,000 $ 75,000 1 $ 75,000 $ 100,000 1 $ 100,000 TOTAL INDIVIDUAL GIFTS 156 $ 1,019,500 Our Together We Grow Campaign will officially launch April 3, 2016, and will culminate with a Commitment Sunday on May 1, 2016. We believe our campaign will be a success as we see three things take place in our church. ENGAGE THE BODY We want to see 100% participation and engagement from the entire church body as we enter our campaign. EMBRACE THE FUTURE As we communicate our church s next chapter, our prayer is that we will embrace the future, and see ourselves in God s story at Good Hope. EXCEED THE GOAL We don t only want to meet our financial goals, but we want to exceed those goals. We want to see God move, and provide for our expansion efforts through the generosity and obedience of each family and individual.
Good Hope Baptist Church 10 How Do I Determine My Family s Gift? We are asking each family to spend time together praying through what their first fruit offerings and their 36-month commitment above and beyond what they are currently tithing. Here is a discipleship process we are asking families to consider in determining their gifts. At the end of the day we win if we all follow Jesus in obedience. 1. What could we reasonably give from our family budget to Together We Grow? We have been blessed so much that we all have room in our budget to simply give. For some of us, it s $50-$100 a month and for some others, it may be more. 2. What could we give in addition to Together We Grow if we sacrificed a few things? Here s a simple chart of how one family may determine their commitment. ACTIVITY WEEKLY YEARLY 3 YEARS INCREASE CASH GIVING ELIMINATE ONE MEAL OUT PER WEEK REDUCE CHRISTMAS BUDGET REDUCE VACATION BUDGET REDUCE GROCERY BUDGET GARAGE SALE INCOME REDUCE ENTERTAINMENT/SHOPPING ELIMINATE ONE STARBUCKS EACH WEEK FAMILY GIFT FROM SAVINGS FAITH COMMITMENT TOTAL $50 $2,600 $7,800 $40 $2,080 $6,240 $250 $750 $300 $900 $25 $1,300 $3,900 $250 $750 $500 $1,500 $4 $280 $624 $2,000 $1,000 $119 $7,488 $25,2464 3. How could we take this a step further and trust God to provide for us as a family in addition to what we could reasonably give and sacrifice? (Reasonably Give) + (Sacrifice) + (Trust) = (My Monthly Gift) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38 PERSPECTIVE & PROCESS Each of us face a daily battle. Will we follow our own desires or will we respond to the will of God? It is far easier to live a life centered on self, just as others around us do and forget about the overall purpose that God has for our lives. Together We Grow reflects the desire of our hearts that we will respond to the will of God for our church and community. God desires for our church to be as effective as it can be in bringing boys, girls, men and women into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We must respond to His commission. God desires each of us to use our gifts to make an impact in other people. We must respond in obedience. God desires to do a great work that is much more than humanly possible, and He desires for us to ask Him to do it. We must respond by asking Him to move!
