Along with receiving nighttime shelter and case management, the women eat here. We are looking for people who are willing to bring dinner for up to 15 women. You bring the dinner, the ladies do the cleanup. What should you cook or buy? Whatever you like, they probably will too. Are you willing to bring dinner one evening? If you are, you ll receive a call a few days ahead of time to let you know how many women we have as you could be making dinner for only 5 or 8, depending on how many women we have in the shelter at that time, 15 is the maximum. More information will be in the bulletin next week, but if you have questions or to reserve a date, please call Brenda Fincher at 253-859-0444 ext. 214 or Rob Ugarte at 253-517-7764. The Pontifical Mission Societies 70 West 36th Street New York, NY 10018 Puerto Rico is in a state of crisis. Hurricane Maria was the strongest storm to make landfall in a century. Winds blowing 250km per hour and mass flooding have destroyed homes, churches, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure in this U.S. Territory. The hurricane devastated, crops, animals, sources of water and electricity and put thousands of people throughout the island at risk. The Archbishop of San Juan, Mgr. Roberto Gonzalez Nieves, has asked the world for gestures of charity towards the people of Puerto Rico. While you continue to pray for those affected by this disaster, Missio invites you to act as well. A gift of just $20 helps provide essential supplies, such as water and food. A gift of $100 helps begin the difficult work of rebuilding. Although Puerto Rico has been demolished, the Archbishop said, we are not completely destroyed. We will walk together helping each other to make the beauty of our country, its mountains, rivers, seas, and cities shine again." "Charity is born of the call of a God who continues to knock on our door, the door of all people, to invite us to love, to compassion, to service of one another. - Pope Francis 4
