St. Teresa of Calcutta HOW MUCH TO GIVE...FOR GOD LOVES A PERSON WHO GIVES CHEERFULLY. (2 Corinthians 9:7) On the weekend of October 22nd & 23rd, you contributed $5,661.00 in the Regular Parish Collection and $1,836.00 for the Missions. Thank you for your sacrificial offerings of gratitude! OFFERTORY PROCESSION Bringing up the gifts of Bread and Wine is an expression of offering ourselves to the Lord. At Weekday Mass, we have now placed the Offertory table upfront by the third row in the main aisle. Please come forward and carry the gifts to the Altar. We encourage you, if you have requested the Mass, to participate in this symbolic gesture. THANK YOU, LOU MARINI! Lou conducted a very successful five week study on the Gospel of St. Luke with over 20 Parishioners in attendance. The sessions were a wonderful preparation for the new cycle of Readings which will begin on November 27th. We are grateful to Lou for his time and talent! GREEN ALTAR CLOTH Thank you to Jeanette Ganguzza who has donated a new green Altar Cloth in memory of Carmine Ganguzza. ALL SOULS ENROLLMENTS Your Envelopes, with the names of all your beloved Deceased, will remain in a place of honor in the Sanctuary for the month of November. We will be remembering your loved ones at Mass for this month, which is dedicated to the Faithful Departed. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION ADULTS We have had two meetings so far with 20 adults and young adults in attendance. This was an impressive turnout, the largest group that we have ever had. Among those who will walk this journey of Faith from now until Holy Saturday are a convert from Islam, a convert from Buddhism, a Protestant, all of whom will be baptized, be given First Holy Communion and Confirmed on April 15th, the Vigil of Easter. Other members of the group are baptized Catholics who were never Confirmed and several individuals who identify themselves as Catholics but were never baptized. We are gratified by the sincerity of these individuals. Under the guidance of Douglas Eckhoff, Eileen Fortis, Peter Genares, Maricor Genares and Lou Marini, our wonderful RCIA Team, the group will meet twice a month. Each meeting will focus on a particular aspect of Catholic life, with an opportunity for prayers, reflection and study. Please keep these 20 individuals in your prayers. They are a sign of renewed interest in our Faith. May they walk the journey of Faith with promise. FUNDS FOR THE INDEPENDENT RECONCILIATION AND COMPENSATION PROGRAM On October 6th, Cardinal Dolan announced his desire, during this Year of Mercy, to bring healing to those who are victim-survivors of sexual abuse by members of the clergy of the Archdiocese of New York. In his statement that announced this initiative, the Cardinal assured donors to the with the following: You may also wonder - since it is your money - where the revenue to cover this compensation will come from. I can tell you where it will not come from. It will not come from the money you have given to your Parishes and Schools, nor it will come from...the Cardinal s Annual Stewardship Appeal, and not from our Renew and Rebuild Capital Campaign, Catholic Charities, nor any other Apostolate you intend your generous offerings to support. In a letter to the Clergy, dated the same day, His Eminence elaborated on this initiative: it is fitting that we once again take the opportunity to ask forgiveness for mistakes that have been made and seek reconciliation with those who have been harmed and still feel alienated we are taking a long - term loan, to be paid gradually from sources not designated for specific Church or Charitable use

SECOND LETTER TO THE THESSALONIANS, Chap 3, Verses 3-12 Thessalonica was a poor city on the Aegean Sea. St. Paul asks the new Christians to cooperate with one another. GOSPEL OF LUKE, Chap 21, Verses 5-19 A reference to the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in 167 B.C. and a similar desecration in 70 A.D. Dear Friends in the Lord, In many Catholic Countries, individuals and families pay great respect, during the month of November, to their loved ones who have died. In Mexico, November 2nd is known as El dia de los muertos, our equivalent of All Souls Day. It is a day off from work. In addition to attending Mass, it is a custom to visit cemeteries and light candles by their ancestors burial places. I ve viewed these spectacular scenes on the Internet and they are amazing and inspiring. For these cultures, death is part of the natural process of life, a time to be with their departed loved ones and to celebrate their relationship with them. I make it a habit to read over each of the names of the deceased that you print on our All Souls Enrollment Envelopes. Before I place them in the Memorial Table in the Sanctuary, I pray for their Eternal Rest. How sad not have them with us, but also how comforting to know that we will be reunited with them one day in Heaven! I think of my own grandparents, my Mom and Dad, three uncles and two aunts and a cousin who have gone home to God, as well as countless brothers-priests with whom I served and who have entered into Eternal Life. And I think of those individuals whose Funerals I have celebrated during my Priesthood, especially here at St. Clare s. I have many fond memories of so many of them and I am filled with much gratitude for the countless blessings that I have received from so many individuals who are now deceased. I came across a reflection in the Summer, 2016 edition of Italian America Magazine. Perhaps we can take time to thank all those deceased individuals who influenced us and assisted us. I ask you also to think of and pray for the founders of our Parish and for those many generations that gave of their time, talent and generosity to our Parish: The Tool that Built Our Family Lo strumento che construito la nostra famiglia Never forget the ones who paved the way for us, Who saved the day for us, Who always prayed for us, Never forget the ones who made this way for us, Who broke their back for us, Who spoke their mind for us, Never forget the ones who had a dream for us, Who always believed in us, Who never lost their trust in us, Never forget the ones who sailed the seas for us, Who bent their knees for us, Who spent their lives for us. May November remind us that we are part of the Communion of Saints, a network of spiritual relationships in which we can pray for one another in this world and in Heaven and that those who are in Heaven can pray for us. Faithfully yours,
