We are asking that any member of our parish that would like to participate in the Living Rosary to please call the Parish Office and leave your name and phone number. This could be one adult or teen individual, a couple or a family of no more than four who would be willing to lead a Hail Mary or another part of the rosary. ATTENTION ALL 2016 GRADUATES BOTH COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL Mark your calendars now for Sunday, June 5 th at 10:30am. Your parish family is planning a special Mass and reception to celebrate your graduation. We invite ALL graduates to be a part of this celebration (high school, college). Please call the Parish Office (440)884-3030 if you can attend. Invitations to known high school seniors were mailed out recently. More details to follow. Today, fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost. This is the birthday of the Church. The liturgical color is red, signifying the descent of the Holy Spirit, witnessed by the disciples as tongues of fire. This also marks the end of the Easter season. On Monday, we return to Ordinary time in the church year. The liturgical color will be green, signifying hope and the new life that we have in Jesus Christ. Next Saturday, May 21, at 10:00am in St John Cathedral, Kevin Joseph Klonowski, of St Charles Borromeo Parish, will be ordained a priest for the Diocese of Cleveland. Kevin is the son of Scott and Vicki Klonowski, brother of Andrea Zabor, uncle of Cecilia, and grandson of Sophie Seligman. All are members of St Charles Borromeo. The newly-ordained Father Kevin Klonowski will celebrate a First Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 22, at 12:00Noon. Immediately following Mass, there will be a Reception and First Priestly Blessing in the Corrigan Gym. All parishioners are invited to the First Mass and to the Reception. A few months back, I indicated that our parish St Vincent de Paul Society needed some new members. More than five dozen people quickly responded! SVdeP s membership has greatly expanded; there is lots of new help with home visits, preparing food baskets, stocking shelves, and keeping records. Now some of those volunteers have begun a separate group, following the Lord s call to care for the imprisoned. At last week s meeting, we decided to call ourselves Dismas Ministry. We will focus on ways that we can help those in jail or in prison. Our first effort will be a book collection for the County Jail. We will do this on the weekend of June 3-4-5. In the weeks to come, we will ask for your gently-used, no longer needed, books and magazines. These can be dropped off at the Corner School Meeting Room on the first weekend of June. Dismas Ministry will sort and categorize your book offerings and then deliver them to where they are needed. Interested in helping with Dismas Ministry? Come to our next meeting on Monday, May 23, 7:30pm, John XXIII Room (second floor) of the PAC. Parish Council will meet this Thursday, May 19, at 7:45pm, in the John Paul II Room (second floor) of the Parish Activities Center. We will thank the four Council members who served the 2013-2016 term: Michael Zickes (president), Ken Adams (vice president), David Jakubowski, and Kim Kline. And at our Thursday meeting, we will welcome the four members of Council, elected today, who will serve the 2016-2019 term. At our meeting, Council members will elect their officers for 2016-2017. Parish Council members will be formally installed in office at a weekend Mass in September.
