Text of Motet The mighty God hath spoken And to the earth hath cried E en from the sun s uprising Til it the light doth hide. From Sion God appears! His voice shall not keep silence; Mid fire and tempest s violence The judgment mankind hears The judgment mankind hears.// He speaks; the nations tremble, Earth heav n, and hell obey; In awe the saints assemble, The shadows flee away. Oh! Keep us in that day! Thou mighty God of heaven, Oh, may we be forgiven Thy pard ning grace display Thy pard ning grace display. O Word of God Incarnate, O Wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky; We praise thee for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps Shines on from age to age. 2. The Church from her dear Master Received the gift divine, And still that light she lifteth O er all the earth to shine. It is the golden casket, Where gems of truth are stored; It is the heaven-drawn picture Of Christ the living Word. 3. It floateth like a banner Before God s host unfurled; It shineth like a beacon Above the darkling world; It is the chart and compass That o er life s surging sea, Mid mists and rocks and quicksands, Still guide, O Christ, to thee. 4. O make thy Church, dear Saviour, A lamp of burnished gold To bear before the nations Thy sure light as of old; O teach thy wandering pilgrims By this their path to trace, Till clouds and darkness ended, They see thee face to face.

Tickets available at the Box Office FINANCIAL UPDATE It has been a busy and blessed year for our Parish of St. Peter s Cathedral. As we head into the last several weeks of 2014, I would like to take this opportunity to provide a brief update on our financial status. As is often the case, there is good news and the other kind. The good news is that the Cathedral 150 Campaign launched in July, along with the preceding Building in Faith campaign, has already raised over $66,000 this year, surpassing our target of $50,000. Unfortunately, part of this success is derived from the bequests of and memorials to some very faithful parishioners who passed away this past year. This leads to the second point, which is that contributions to the current account have now fallen behind last year s givings, and our expenditures have increased in three key areas: heating costs, maintenance and allotment to the Diocese. As a result, without a real increase in offerings to year-end, we will run a deficit in 2014. Some explanation on these two expenditure challenges. The very long and cold winter of 2014 resulted in an increase in our heating costs over budget of $8000 over last year s costs to date ($35,000 vs $28,000). The flood conditions in the spring also resulted in an additional $3000 expenditure on the Cathedral for improved water control and sump pump installations. Regarding allotment payments to the Diocese, we determined at our last Annual Meeting that we would propose to the Diocese to move to full payment of allotment ($30,000 for 2014) for at least the next three years. Through an arrangement called a 5-3 Plan, if we achieved this, all past allotment arrears (over $200,000) would be forgiven. Our proposal was accepted by Bishop Cutler and we have been paying full allotment, which by year end will mean an expenditure of about $11,000 more than last year. In general, all other receipts and expenditures within our financial plan for 2014 are running in accordance with budget. Our share of Assistant Priest arrangements with Milton and Kings County, as well as the month that Fr. David Garrett is now working alongside Fr. Harris, are covered under our Assistant Priest Endowment Income. Some of the expenditures for Rectory improvements that will be necessary as Fr. Garrett settles in will be paid for through our Building in Faith Fund. In general, our properties are in very good repair. (over)

So it will be challenging to balance the current account for 2014. Can we rise to that challenge? Could we all DOUBLE our regular offering for the month of December to achieve this goal? I would encourage all Parishioners to examine their financial support for the Parish for the year to date, and provide what support each of you can within your means. Thank you.
