Even if it s only a year BLOOD OF CHRIST or two old, the word Amen has resounded off those walls countless times at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Prayer and as the faithful have come forward to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. Today s feast is about those Amens offered in faith, offered in times of trouble or doubt, spoken in joy, spoken mindlessly, but all given to God in a multitude of ways. It is our very lives that lie behind our Amens and are touched by the presence of Christ, the presence we celebrate today. More importantly, we celebrate the love of Christ for us shown in the sacrifice on Calvary and that he continues to give to us in every celebration of the Eucharist. What can we do but rejoice in that great love, and then go out into the world and live that love in sacrificing for others? Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

This feast reminds us that the goal of the catechumen s journey through Lent is not the baptismal font at Easter, but rather the experience of Pentecost. It is all about life lived in the Spirit s embrace in relationship to the Body of Christ, which is found both on the table and at the table. The season of Confirmation is also drawing to a close, and this feast serves as a reminder that this sacrament, a solemn sending from font to table, is keyed to renewed vigor. Confirmation has sometimes been sadly misunderstood as a kind of graduation from religious formation, but it is nothing of the sort. It is about being led by the Lord Jesus to the place where the Spirit flourishes, and where the gifts of the Spirit are most easily detectable. After next week we will resume our consideration of the sacrament of confirmation, its rich and somewhat tangled history, its challenging theology, and its changing celebration. Rev. Jesus fulfilled the words of Moses through his teaching that He was Bread of Life. His words help us to understand the Kingdom of God while His flesh becomes food for the journey. In the Lord's plan of salvation He offers His Son, the Word, to be our guide. When our hearts are receptive to the life offered to us, we yearn for a greater share in the Kingdom. COMMUNITY AND SERVICE A Woman s Haven A Woman s Haven pregnancy crisis center is a 501(C)3 that follows the teachings of the Catholic Faith in everything we do. We can be reached at (210) 224-2902 or by emailing us on our website at www.awomanshaven.org. We are located at: 8647 Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio, TX 78240 St. Mark Quilters The Lion s Pride Join us on Fridays from about 9am to 3pm upstairs in Room 201 of Christopher Hall. Be sure to bring a brown bag lunch as we break for lunch around noon and discuss our projects and news of the day. Please note, we will not be meeting on Friday, July 4th, due to the Fourth of July holiday, nor will we meet Friday, July 11th, at Christopher Hall. However, we may take a road trip on Friday, July 11th, to visit some quilt shops and enjoy a restaurant lunch. MOST GENEROUS PARISHIONERS The recent wheelchair fundraiser netted $31,159 as of June 10th. This will enable the American Wheelchair Mission to purchase 207 wheelchairs. More impressively expressed, our parishioners are making it possible for 207 IMMOBILE people to become MOBILE!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY. St. Mark s is joining two other Archdiocesan parishes St. Francis of Assisi and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Selma to maximize the number of wheelchairs gifted to the San Antonio CRIT (Centro de Rehabilitacion Infantil Telecon) organization. CRIT is a very strong organization in Mexico with a facility under construction in San Antonio in the vicinity of Morgan s Wonderland. It is the first to be built outside of Mexico. Construction is projected to be complete by the end of October, 2014. We are hoping that wheelchairs will arrive in time to coincide with CRIT s facility dedication. CRIT will provide care for children up to age 18 who suffer from a variety of disabilities and whose parents cannot afford the needed care. Ricardo Guzman, director of the local CRIT, predicts about 50% of patients will originate from San Antonio and others from Texas and beyond. Any patient who arrives at the facility will receive free treatment from a professional medical staff and volunteers. CRIT plans to publish ads in Church bulletins throughout San Antonio which will announce opportunities for volunteers. Watch for these ads if you are interested in volunteering in this ministry. LOOKING FOR ALTAR SERVERS St. Mark s is in desperate need of Altar Servers for the Saturday 5pm Masses. We especially need older kids that can carry the Cross.
