You, being Simon, give directions such as, Simon says put your hands on your hips. Children follow by repeating verse while doing the action. They follow directions preceded only by, Simon says..., but they still repeat the verse regardless of doing a special motion. HYMN FOR TABERNACLE: (2 minutes) BIBLE LESSON: (20 minutes) TABERNACLE #5 The Most Holy Place (See Involvement Helps for Younger Children for ways to involve the children in the Bible lesson.) COUNSEL TIME: (If you have a helper, hostess, or Teacher Junior Grade, let them do the review time while you counsel those who responded to the invitation. Otherwise, at the end of club, be sure to remind the children who responded to the invitation to stay after club for a few minutes.) E.O.T.O.: (2 minutes) Share with the children how to use the E.O.T.O., Tabernacle Hymn miniature. Encourage them to sing it to others so that they may also learn about the Tabernacle.

Teach the portion of the story listed under Week #9. REVIEW ACTIVITY: (6 minutes) Use the activity below or the Bible Learning Game in the Involvement Helps for Younger Children. Tabernacle Concentration Same as last week. Review questions for TABERNACLE #5: 1. What provides light in the Holy of Holies? (There is no lamp, candle, or window. The light is from God Himself. It is a sign that God is there.) 2. What is the bottom part of the furniture in the Holy of Holies called? (The ark of the covenant.) 3. What is the top part of the furniture in the Holy of Holies called? (The mercy seat.) 4. What special thing is on the mercy seat? (Two solid gold cherubim face each other.) 5. Why is the mercy seat so special? (It is the place where the glory of God rests.) 6. What is found inside the ark of the covenant? (Tablets of stone bearing the Ten Commandments, a pot of gold containing manna, and Aaron s rod that budded.) 7. What does the high priest do on the Day of Atonement for his sins and for the sins of his household? (Kills a bull, catches the blood, goes into the Holy of Holies, and sprinkles blood on the Mercy Seat and on the ground.) 8. How many times is the blood of the animal sprinkled on the mercy seat and on the ground? (Once on the mercy seat and seven times on the ground.) 9. How does the blood sprinkled on the mercy seat and on the ground remind us of Jesus? (One reminds us that Jesus died one time; seven reminds us that He took care of sin perfectly and completely.) 10. What does the high priest do for forgiveness of the sin of all the other people? (He kills a goat, catches the blood, enters the Holy of Holies, and sprinkles blood on the mercy seat and on the ground.) 11. When the high priest returns from the Holy of Holies the second time, what does He do? (Places his hands on a live goat, confesses the sins of the people, and sends the goat away into the wilderness.) 12. Explain why we don t need a high priest to offer a yearly sacrifice for us? (Jesus, our High Priest, died in our place. He presented His own precious blood to God in Heaven for the forgiveness of our sins.) *COUNSEL TIME: (*Only if you did not counsel with the children earlier.) SEND HOME WITH THE CHILDREN: 1. Pre-session papers for younger and older children 2. Memory verse token/take Time to Review 3. E.O.T.O.: Tabernacle Hymn miniature 4. Quiet Time CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. PRE-SESSION, Younger Child TABERNACLE #5 For Christ is... entered... into Heaven... in the presence of God for us. Hebrews 9:24 Copyright 1997 Communication Resources, Inc.

MEMORY VERSE HELPS THE TABERNACLE LESSON #5 The Most Holy Place Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands... but into Heaven... to appear in the presence of God for us. (The underlined portion of the verse indicates what the younger children should memorize.) USE the visual and let the children read the verse with you. READ the verse from your Bible while holding the visual so the children can follow along. DO MOTIONS together with the children while you EXPLAIN the verse as follows: Hebrews 9:24 (Hold hands as an open Bible.) For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands... (Touch the tip of the middle finger of your dominant hand into the center of the palm of your non-dominant hand. Then touch the tip of the middle finger of your non-dominant hand into the palm of your dominant hand. Shake head no. Put hands in front of you and wiggle fingers.) but into Heaven... (Raise arms, palms facing upward.) to appear in the presence of God for us. (Point up, then to yourself.) Hebrews 9:24 (Hold hands as an open Bible.) This is the address (where the verse is located in the Bible). This verse is found in the book of Hebrews, chapter 9, verse 24. We ve been learning about the Tabernacle. We know this is where the priest went to talk to God for the people. When Jesus rose from the dead, He went to another holy place that wasn t made by the hands of men like the Tabernacle was. The Tabernacle was a figure, or a picture, of the place He was going. Where did He go? He went to Heaven. Why? Jesus went to Heaven where He talks to God for us. We don t have to go to a priest when we want to talk to God anymore. We can just pray and talk to Jesus, and He will talk to God for us. The book of Hebrews, chapter 9, verse 24. DRILL the verse with the activity listed on the Tabernacle #5 Agenda. TEST the children for their understanding of the verse. What holy place did Jesus go to after He rose from the dead? What does Jesus do for us in Heaven? CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA 17111-0375

On God, point to Heaven. On you, point to self. On talk, hands as folded as in prayer. On regularly, point to fingers one at a time. Illustration 10 Repeat together God s words to Moses, I shall meet with you from above the mercy seat. Illustration 11 Illustration 12 Place Ten Commandments into the ark of the covenant, then the pot of manna, and then Aaron s rod. Dip fingers into basin and sprinkle blood once on the mercy seat. Sprinkle the earth seven times. Again, dip fingers into basin and sprinkle blood once on the mercy seat. Sprinkle the earth seven times. Illustration 13 Say together, Jesus (point upward) died (make cross with pointer fingers) once (put up one finger) for sin (fist hitting open hand). Ask, What do you think the people might have done to show how they felt when their sins were covered and forgotten? Do possibilities together. Bow head and fold hands in prayer. Smile. Clap. Put arms into air and turn around once. Call out, Thank God! Hold hands in front of you, make fists, move hands to sides as if tearing a piece of cloth. Again, say together, Jesus (point upward) died (make cross with pointer fingers) once (put up one finger) for sin (fist hitting open hand). BIBLE LEARNING GAME: Talk to Him Have children walk around in a circle, clapping and singing (to the tune of Farmer in the Dell ): God wants you to talk to Him, Wants you to talk to Him. Oh, God loves you, and that s why He Wants you to talk to Him. After the song, choose a child to name something he could talk to God about. That child now sits in center. All walk, clap, and sing again. Child in circle chooses another to name something to talk to God about. Both sit in center. Continue as time allows or until everyone is inside circle. GO AND TELL BOX Week #19 How Can We Help the Luttmanns? (Suggested item to put in the Go and Tell Box picture of sneaker.) What do you think this sneaker has to do with going and telling? (Let the children share their ideas.) Listen as we talk about what you and I can do to help our missionaries. HOW CAN WE HELP THE LUTTMANS? (Show their picture and HOW wordstrip.) PRAY (Use PRAY wordstrip.) Do you continue to use your VIP Prayer Wheel/Prayer Bookmark to pray for the Luttmans (show one)? This week, you can use one of your Quiet Times to pray for Mr. Tom and his family. GIVE (Use GIVE wordstrip.) God tells us to give joyfully and generously. Maybe you have money you received as an allowance or that you have saved or received as a gift that you can share with our missionaries. Perhaps you do not have any money at all. Maybe you could do some chores to earn some to give to our missionaries. Would you be willing to give part of what you have or earn to help to our missionaries? WRITE (Use WRITE wordstrip.) Missionaries like to receive letters. You can write them a letter and tell them about yourself. You can ask questions about them and what they do. Will you write them? Perhaps you could send them an e-mail. (See general information sheet on Missionaries we Support.) GO (Use GO wordstrip.) This sneaker has a heart symbol on the side. That reminds me that God wants you and me to have a heart that cares about others who need to know about Jesus. Will you tell a playmate or someone else about the Lord Jesus? If someday God were to ask you to go to a faraway place to serve Him, would you be willing to go? If so, will you tell Him that today? (Give time for silent prayer before praying for the requests.) LET S PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES. THANK God for His Son, Jesus, who died on the cross to give us forgiveness of sin. Thank Him for Mr. Tom s willingness to GO tell others. PRAY and ask God to help our missionary, Mr. Tom, share with children about God s love and ask Him also to help you be a missionary by telling a friend about Jesus.
