Parte 2-12 - 144. Relationship Notes for Abraham ENLOES Sr. and Elizabeth SILVERTHORNE Elizabeth was second wife of Abraham. The name of the first wife unknown. He was the second of three husbands for her. (from Larry cnabb via e-mail 06/08/97 mcnabb@osage.net) John ENLOES DUBBLE DILIGENCE - Groombright Bailey's lease of Bailey's Vulcania shows John "Enlowes" as a former Lessee of Dubble Diligence.Sence Richard Cox leased Dubble Diligence in 1737, he may have taken over the Enloes' lease. In April of 1736 John Enlows and Sarah Legett were accused of cohabiting unlawfully together by Jacob Wright, Richard Cox and wife, and George Ensor. As a result, John appeared before the vestry of St Johns Parish (Joppa) to answer the charge. Perhaps John left the anor after this incident. He was a Brother to Abraham Enloes of Enloe's Last Shift. His mother married second John Ensor ca. 1710, as her husband had died in 1709 and she had a son, John Ensor Jr. in 1711. In 1733, Abraham Enloes leased Lot #50 on Lord Baltimore's Gunpowder anor which consisted of 100 acres and may have been called at that time "Enloe's Last Shift." In 1743, he leased another 41 acres on the Gunpowder anor known at the time as "Abraham's Desire." In the aryland resurvey of the manor, these two leases were known as "Enloe's Last Shift" (1785). Both leases were made for the lifetime of his wife, ary, age 55 (in 1767) and son, Benjamin Enloes, age 28 (in 1767) although the second lease showed ary's age as 56 (in 1767). Benjamin was actually born 19 Jan. 1738/39 so the 1767 survey was correct on his age. Abraham Enloes died intestate between July and August of 1758. His wife ary Deason Enloes administered the estate per Baltimore County Administration Accounts Liber 6, f. 244. The account states that the deceased left ten children. Except for four of these children, whose births were recorded in St. John's & St. George's Parish, the "ten" children have had to be guessed at from other records. The first child of Abraham Enloes and ary, according to the church records was Anthony, born in 1731. However, this son may have died in infancy since Benjamin Enloes is shown as Abraham's heir in his lease of Lot #50 of the Gunpowder anor in 1733. Anthony's will is copied in E. E. Enlow's book on page 7, it was dated 9/12/1750 and probated October, 1750. Anthony Enloes, son of Abraham, had surveyed for himself, ay 22, 1714, "Enloes Resf". This was patented in 1717. Charles the Second and To All persons Know Yee that for and in consideration that Anthony Enloe of Baltimore County in our said Province of aryland hath due unto him within our said Province the quantity of sixty two acres of land, -. Wee doe therefore grant unto Anthony Enloe all that Tract of Land Called Enloes Rest lyeing - on the north side of iddle River Beginning at a bounded red oak standing at the head of a small cove -. - Given under our Greater Seal at Arms this twenty fifth day of April one thousand seven hundred and seventeen, Witness our Trusty and well beloved John Hart Esq. Govenour in Chiefe and Keeper of our said Greater Seal at Arms in our said Province of aryland. In 1739 there was: resurveyed for him "Dutch Neck" and about ninety acres added thereto. The whole he gave the name of "Anthony's Delight". His last acquirement of land was in 1748. He is met up till the middle of the century in other documents. He is found as a surety on a bond in 1723, again in 1743. This same year, 1743, he and his wife Elinor were witnesses to the will of one William Galloway. This Elinor is supposed to have been the daughter of Thomas Cheney, one of the Anne Arundel Gentry. Eleanor Cheney was baptized October 18, 1711; she is mentioned as Elinor Enloes in the will of Thomas Cheney in 1737. Anthony's will was probated October 10, 1750. Eleanor was appointed executrix giving bond for 500 pounds sterling. During 1751 and 1752 she submitted several accounts. On January 14, 1752, she married William Grover and the accounts thereafter are issued in the names of both. The estate was distributed between the widow and the three children, Abraham, Ellinor and Elizabeth.
