OPENING ACTIVITY - 4 s / Clubhouse Air Power What You Need: A long light-colored piece of butcher paper, painter s tape, markers, straws, and small craft pom-poms. Before the activity: Make a zigzag path with markers on a long piece of butcher paper. Tape the butcher paper to the floor. During the activity: Give each child a straw and a pom-pom. The object is to blow air through the straw, moving the pom-pom down the paper, while keeping it inside the zigzag line. Before the activity: Okay, everyone! Come line up in front of me! I want you to take a deep breath in (inhale loudly) and let it all out (exhale loudly). Breathe in (inhale) and let it all out (exhale). Have you ever thought about how God gave you and me breath? It s a wonderful thing how we breathe air in and then let it all out. We need breath to live, for sure, but we can also use our breath for fun things like blowing up balloons or blowing bubbles or blowing out candles on a cake! Today we re going to use our breath to play a fun game! What you re going to do is move a pom-pom (hold up pom-pom) all the way down this paper and staying inside these lines by blowing your breath through a straw. (Demonstrate.) Whew! Think you can do it? (Pause.) Well let s give it a try! During the activity: (Encourage the children to cheer for one another.) At the end of the activity: That was fun! Are you all out of breath now? You can catch your breath during the Bible lesson while we learn about how God made you just the way you are! That s right! God made you, He gave you breath, and He loves you just the way you are!

ACTIVITY 1 2 s/3 s Hula Island Dancing What You Need: One island per 2 children (around 10 islands per room), fun music and a cd player Before the activity: Place the islands on the floor all over the play area. During the activity: Play the music and have the children pretend to swim around the islands. Turn the music off after a few minutes and instruct the children to step onto an island. Tell kids that no more than two children should be on each island. When all the children are standing on an island, start the music back again. (Repeat as many times as desired.) Before the activity: There are so many islands on the floor. Let s pretend we are pirates and we are in the ocean. When I play the music, start pretending that you are swimming. When the music stops, run to an island as soon as you can! Only two people can be on an island at a time. If you see two people already on the island you want to go to, try to find another one. During the activity: Are you ready? (Play music for a minute or two.) Okay, everyone find an island to go to! (Pause.) Great job! Remember if you are on an island, stand to the side to let one other person on. We have to share our islands! (Play music again.) Start swimming again! (Repeat as many times as desired.) At the end of the activity: That was so much fun! You all did a fantastic job! It is fun to pretend that we are pirates and play fun games, but we have to remember that the important things are what we learn from the Bible! What is better than gold? (Pause.) You got it! The Bible is better than gold!

ACTIVITY 1 4 s /Clubhouse Hula Island What You Need: One hula-hoop per 3 children, fun music and a cd player Before the activity: Place the hula-hoops on the floor all over the play area. During the activity: Play the music and have the children pretend to swim around the hula-hoops. Turn the music off after a few minutes and instruct the children to step inside a hula-hoop. Tell kids that no more than three children should be inside each hula-hoop. When all the children are inside a hula-hoop, start the music back again. (Repeat as many times as desired.) Before the activity: There are so many hula-hoops on the floor. They look like tiny islands! Let s pretend we are pirates and we are in the ocean. When I play the music, start pretending that you are swimming. When the music stops, run to an island as soon as you can! Only three people can be on an island at a time. If you see three people already on the island you want to go to, try to find another one. During the activity: Are you ready? (Play music for a minute or two.) Okay, everyone find an island to go to! (Pause.) Great job! Remember if you are on an island, stand to the side to let two other people on.

ACTIVITY 2-2 s, 3 s, 4 s Find the Gold What You Need: Plastic gold coins (around 48 coins) and a Bible During the activity: Hide the gold coins around the room. Show the children the gold coins. Remind the children of our lesson and how the Bible is better than gold. Tell the children that gold coins and the Bible are hidden through out our classroom. Ask the children to close their eyes while you hide the coins and Bible. When you are ready, tell the children to open their eyes and find the coins and Bible. (Continue playing as long as the children are having fun.) Once all the coins and the Bible have been found, practice saying the memory verse with the children. Before the activity: Look what I have! (Hold up the gold coin.) This is a pretend gold coin. If it were a real gold coin, it would be worth A LOT of money! We ve been learning about a book that is even better than gold. Do you remember what it is? (Pause.) Yes! The Bible! (Hold up Bible.) The Bible is better than gold! What is better than gold? (Pause.) The Bible is better than gold! We re going to use these gold coins and this Bible to play a game. All you have to do is find the gold coins and the Bible and bring them to me. Let s play! During the activity: Your teachings are worth more to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver, Psalm 119:72. At the end of the activity: The Bible (hold up Bible) is worth more than thousands of pieces of gold (hold up coin) and silver. Hmm if the Bible is better than gold, then I think we should tell God thank You for giving it to us. Ready? Here we go. One, two, three! Thank You, God, for the Bible! Woo-hoo! What is better than gold? (Pause.) The Bible is better than gold!

ACTIVITY 2 - Clubhouse Pass the Gold What You Need: A plastic gold coin, fun music, cd player and a Bible During the activity: Stand in a circle with the children. Pass the gold coin around the circle when the music plays. When music stops, the person holding the gold coin will say the memory verse. (Continue playing as long as the children are having fun.) Before the activity: Look what I have! We re going to use this gold coin to play a game that will help us learn our memory verse. All you have to do is pass the coin around our circle when you hear the music. When the music stops, whoever has the coin gets to say our verse.

ACTIVITY 3 Pin the Flag What You Need: Ship and Flags from the Activity Pages on the Website, white cardstock, wall tape, and scissors Before the activity: Copy Ship from the Activity Pages onto white cardstock and tape the pages together on a wall to make a ship. Make sure the ship is low enough for little ones to reach it. Copy Flags from the Activity Pages on white cardstock, cut them out so each child has one, and place a rolled-up piece of wall tape on the back of each flag. During the activity: Have the children stand in a line about six feet in front of the ship on the wall. Give the first child in line a flag, point to the mast on the ship, and direct them to place the flag on the mast with their eyes closed. Allow the child to place the flag wherever they can and then allow the next child a turn. Continue until every child has had a turn. (Note: Be sure to help the children walk while their eyes are closed.) Before the activity: Aaarrrr, mateys! It looks like our pirate ship has lost its flag! Oh, no! Who can help me put the flag back on our ship? (Pause.) all such amazing helpers! Let s get right to work! During the activity: Do you see the mast where the flag should be? (Pause.) Look at the mast very closely. I am going to give you a flag, and when it is your turn, all you have to do is put the flag on the mast. BUT it s not as easy as you think! You have to place the flag on the ship with your eyes CLOSED! Who thinks they are up for this pirate challenge? (Pause.) I knew you would be! Let s make a line and get started. (Help the children form a single file line and give each child a flag.) The first person will close her eyes and try to remember where the mast is on the ship. (Allow first child in line to take her turn.) Great job! Now let s see what all of our mates can do! (Continue until each child has had a turn.) At the end of the activity: You all did a pirate-tastic job! Our ship has found its flag! I love the way you all helped each other. It is so much fun to play games at church with your friends! We have learned so many wonderful things while we have been pirates.

ACTIVITY 4 Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes What You Need: No supplies needed. Before the activity: Have the children stand in front of you and ask them to spread out. During the activity: Teach the following song and movements to the children. Head (touch head), shoulders (touch shoulders), knees (bend at waist and touch knees), and toes (bend at waist and touch toes), knees (bend at waist and touch knees), and toes (bend at waist and touch toes). Head (touch head), shoulders (touch shoulders), knees (bend at waist and touch knees), and toes (bend at waist and touch toes), knees (bend at waist and touch knees), and toes (bend at waist and touch toes). And eyes (blink eyes) and ears (wiggle ears with your fingers) and mouth (point to mouth) and nose (wiggle nose). Head (touch head), shoulders (touch shoulders), knees (bend at waist and touch knees), and toes (bend at waist and touch toes), knees (bend at waist and touch knees), and toes (bend at waist and touch toes). (Repeat three times, with each time faster than before.) Before the activity: Did you know that God made ALL of you? (Pause.) Yes, He did! He made your toes and your nose and ALL of you! Let s sing a song about all of the parts of us that God made! During the activity: Everyone watch me and then we can sing our song together. (Sing song and do motions by yourself.) Okay, are you ready to give it a try? (Pause.) Great! (Sing song and do motions with the children.) Nice job! Now let s see if we can sing it faster! (Repeat faster.) WOW! really good at this! Do you think we can sing it even faster? (Pause.) I bet we can too! (Repeat faster two more times.) Whew! That was super fast! At the end of the activity: That was so much fun! God made you and me! He made all of us just the way we are. We are perfect to Him!

ACTIVITY 5 Look What I Can Do What You Need: Body Parts from the Activity Pages on the Website, white cardstock, and scissors. Before the activity: Copy Body Parts from the Activity Pages onto white paper, and cut out the individual cards. During the activity: Place the cards in a stack face down and allow the children to draw a card one at a time. As they draw a card invite them to look at it and show the class. Ask them to do something with the body part that is pictured. (Ex: If a nose is pictured, then the child might wiggle his nose.) Have the entire class repeat the child s movement. Add the card to the bottom of the deck and allow another child to draw the next card and repeat the sequence. Continue until each child has had a turn. At the end of the activity: Encourage all of the children to move ALL of their body parts. Before the activity: God made ALL of us! He gave us legs so that we can walk and arms so we can reach things. He gave us eyes to see and hands to pick things up. During the activity: (Hold up cards.) On these cards are pictures of the body parts that God gave us. When it is your turn, you will draw a card and show us what you can do with that part. If I drew a card with a foot on it I might move my foot like this. (Move foot around in circles.) Are you ready to try? (Pause.) Great! Let s get started. (Guide the children in drawing a card and doing a motion with the body part pictured on the card.) At the end of the activity: Way to go! That was fun! Now let s move ALL of the parts that God gave us. (Demonstrate.) Okay, you can sit down now. Whew! I am tired! God always gives us what we need and He made us just the way we are supposed to be. The Bible tells us that we are WONDERFULLY MADE! Knowing that the Bible tells me that [Basic Truth] God made me just the way I am is one more reason why the Bible is better than gold! What is better than gold? (Pause.) Yes! The Bible is better than gold!

ACTIVITY 6 God Made Me What You Need: Body and Clothes from the Activity Pages on the Website, white cardstock, crayons, glue, scissors, and brown, red, yellow, and black yarn. Before the activity: Copy Body and Clothes from the Activity Pages onto the white cardstock. Cut out the clothes so there s enough for each child to have one outfit, and cut the yarn into different size pieces so that it can be used for hair. (Note: The boys will need one pair of shorts and a shirt and the girls will need a dress.) During the activity: Give each child a Body activity page. Allow them to choose the color and size of yarn that best suits their hair. Once they choose their hair encourage them to glue it on. Next give the children the appropriate clothes and allow them to color and decorate their clothes however they choose. After the children finish coloring, allow them to glue the clothes onto the body. Finally, encourage the children to add finishing touches to the body with crayons, such as a nose, mouth, eyes and shoes. (Note: If any children wear glasses or have any other personal features and feel comfortable adding them, encourage them to do so.) At the end of the activity: Place the projects in a safe place to dry. Before the activity: God made you perfect just the way you are! [Basic Truth] God made me and He made you! (Point to the children.) During the activity: We are going to make a picture of ourselves just the way God made us! Here is your body. (Hand out Activity Pages.) Now all we have to do is add the things that make you! First, we need to add some hair. Do you know what color your hair is? (Pause.) Awesome! (Hold up some yarn.) Decide which color you should choose; be sure to get the right size. If your hair is short, you will get the short pieces, but if your hair is long, you will get the longer pieces. Use the glue to glue on your hair. Now it is time to add our clothes. (Hand out the appropriate clothes and allow the children to color and decorate them.) You can color and decorate your clothes any way you would like. Great job! Now all you need to do is use your crayons and add a nose, a mouth, eyes and maybe some shoes! (Note: If any children wear glasses or have any other personal features and feel comfortable adding them, encourage them to do so.) At the end of the activity: WOW! Your pictures look just like you! They re just the way God made you! We learned today that we are WONDERFULLY made! The Bible tells us that God made everyone different and perfect! I m so glad that the Bible taught us about such a special treasure today. What is better than gold? (Pause.) You got it! The Bible is better than gold!

CRAFT - June Week 3 Pirate Hats: What You Need: Pirate Hats and self adhesive stickers Give each child a hat. Have the children use the stickers to create their very own pirate hat. Before the activity: Arrrg! Okay, mateys, it is time to make our very own pirate hats. Before we can wear them we have to decorate them to make them look piratey! At the end of the activity: Great job, mateys! You all worked very hard and your pirate hats look pirate-awesome! It is fun to pretend to be pirates. Pirates used treasure maps to search for something. Hmmm, do you know what they like to look for? (Pause.) Yes! Gold! Pirates are ALWAYS looking for gold. Today, in our Bible lesson, we found out that there is something MUCH better than gold. Do you remember what it was?

CRAFT - June Week 4 The Bible is Better Than Gold: What You Need: Treasure Map, crayons and/or markers, gold glitter and glue. Before the activity: Copy Treasure Map from the Activity Pages on white cardstock for each child. During the activity: Give each child a copy of Treasure Map. Encourage them to color their map, once they have finished the map, instruct the children to place glue over all of the circles. Next, the leader will walk around and assist the children in adding glitter to each of the circles to make gold coins. I m going to give each of you a treasure map. We will color our maps and than we need to add glue and glitter to each circle. We filled up our map! Where can we find all these treasures? The Bible! The Bible is the treasure! We know the Bible is a treasure because the Bible is better than gold! What is better than gold? (Pause.) The Bible is better than gold! Woohoo! We did it! We did it!

SMALL GROUP Small Group Time What you Need: Bible, stickers, dry-erase board and marker SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): (Hold the Bible where the children can see it.) Our lesson today was about a treasure in the Bible that belongs to you and me. That s right! It s a treasure that makes the Bible better than gold. What is better than gold? CHILDREN and SGL: The Bible is better than gold! SGL: Yes, it is! And the treasure we learned about was how God made you and you and you (point to each child) just the way you are. He made your hair and your smile, the way you think and laugh He made all of you just the way you are. And THAT makes you SUPER special! [Basic Truth] God made me and you and THAT is better than gold! (Open Bible to Psalm 119:72.) Now let s use the brains God made for us to practice our new memory verse. It says, Your teachings are worth more to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver, Psalm 119:72. Say that with me. CHILDREN and SGL: Your teachings are worth more to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver, Psalm 119:72. (Repeat as many times as desired.) SGL: You re getting it! And I hope the more we learn about the Bible, the more we will love it. I want the Bible to be worth more to us than all the money in the world! Because the Bible is better than gold! What is better than gold? CHILDREN and SGL: The Bible is better than gold! SGL: Okay, now I want you to think about yourself for a minute. What do you like best about you? There are many wonderful things to choose from because you are by God! So when I say your name, tell me one thing you like best about you and I ll write it in our board. When we pray, we can tell God thank you for making us the way we are. Write down the children s names and what they say on the board. Remember to print the words so they can recognize their names and letters. SGL: Let s pray. Prayer SGL: Dear God, thank You for making us just the way we are. We want to say a special thank You for making (name of each child and what they listed). We love You, God. In Jesus name, amen.
