Spiritual Direction What is it? Spiritual direction is a way of learning to discern what God is doing in our lives. It is a way of trying to understand what s it all about? when it comes to those life questions we all have. We are blessed to have as a part of our community Sr. Paul Teresa, SA, a Franciscan Sister of the Atonement, who would like to begin to offer her gift of spiritual direction to interested parishioners. A Recognition and Occasion of Pride for St Francis de Sales On Sunday April 3, our pastoral associate Jayne Porcelli will be recognized by the Archdiocese of NY for her work and her studies in the Rite of Christian Initiation over the past 27 (!!) years. She has completed a process of study and supervision in the last three years that has led to her receiving an award of certification as a Director of the Rite of Christian Initiation. The RCIA is the process by which we welcome new members into our church family. It is a process of formation and sharing community with others as well as learning more about our Catholic faith. What is notable about this award for both Jayne and our St Francis de Sales parish is that Jayne is the very first person in the Archdiocese to receive this recognition. The team plays in the Saints and Sinners League, which organizes a Catholic mission league where all are invited to enjoy in Catholic fellowship and softball sportsmanship. We play neighboring churches like Our Lady of Good Counsel, St. Patrick s Cathedral, Holy Trinity and more right here in Central Park on Saturday afternoons. All teams play for charity. Thereafter team members share in post-game fellowship and fun at our sponsor bar, the Gael Pub. This is a great opportunity for those new to the city to meet new people and enjoy the unique experience of playing ball in Central Park. Some experience is recommended, but not necessary. Retreat Next Sunday April 10 our 6pm Mass community will welcome Fr Anthony SooHoo, SJ and some of the young adult team leaders from CharisNYC---a retreat program designed for and run by young adult Catholics (20s & 30s) in NYC. They will share with us some of their experiences of finding God in the busy-ness of our city life and share with us an invitation to join them on retreat the weekend of April 15-17.
