MISSION STATEMENT As a community of believers in Jesus Christ and in Communion with the universal church, we strive to follow the Lord s command to love God and one another. Rooted in word and sacrament, we grow together as a Eucharistic community inviting all to the Good News of Jesus. Of Many Things -- Carnival 2015 -- Begins this week on Thursday, June 4th and will run for four days: June 4, 5, 6 & 7th. The bulletin once again contains the Carnival schedule of events, entertainment, times of operation and so much more. The Carnival offers a good time for all ages - a real family friendly celebration. The Carnival has become a community event while at the same time raising much needed funds for the parish and school. Save the dates! Come on over and enjoy the festivities! Graduation at Saint Luke School -- On this Sunday, May 31st, the graduating class of 2015 of Saint Luke School will begin a two week celebration leading up to the Graduation Ceremony itself on Friday, June 12th. Today at 5pm the Graduation Mass will take place followed by a barbeque on the Great Lawn and on Wednesday, June 10th the Class of 2015 will hold their Awards Ceremony followed by the Graduation Dance. Congratulations to the members of the Graduating Class of 2015, their families, relatives and friends. Corpus Christi -- The feast of Corpus Christi/The Body and Blood of Christ will be celebrated next Sunday, June 7th. A procession of the Blessed Sacrament is being sponsored by the parishes of Saint Mel and Saint Luke. See the bulletin for details. All are invited! ************************************* NOVENA TO SAINT ANTHONY The annual Novena in preparation for the June 13th feast of Saint Anthony continues every Tuesday, after the 12 noon Mass, until the celebration of Saint Anthony s feast day - Saturday, June 13th. The 8:30am Mass will be celebrated in honor of Saint Anthony. There is NO 12 noon Mass. The 8:30am Mass is the only Mass of the day as it is a regular Saturday schedule. Special Collection For Our Elderly Religious Next weekend, June 6 & 7, there will be two collections. The first collection is for the support of the parish. The second collection is for the support of the Religious Retirement Fund. Your generosity to both collections is greatly appreciated. Page 7
Saint Luke School of Religion Our Religious Education serves children in Grades 1-8 who are attending public or non-catholic private schools. Registration and Re-Registration for classes beginning September 2015 will be held: Tuesday, June 9-3:30pm-5:00pm Wednesday, June 10-3:30pm-5:00pm A baptism certificate should be submitted for all new students at the time of Registration. BAPTISM PROGRAM When preparing for the Baptism of your child, parents must attend a Pre-Baptism Class. Godparents are welcome and encouraged to attend. The class is held once a month usually on the third Monday night of the month at 7:30pm. The Baptismal Liturgy is usually celebrated on the second and fourth Sunday of the month at 3pm. No Baptism can take place until the church receives a copy of the child s Birth Certificate as required by the diocese.
