March 2013 Edition Albany Bays Te Ope Whakaora The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji & Tonga Territory Caring for people, Transforming lives, Reforming Society.

T his month holds two special celebrations for all of us at the Salvation Army. The first is our one year anniversary since the official opening of the Albany Bays Corps in March 2012. Just as we marvel at and celebrate the life of a child who turns one, we will also take time to marvel and delight at the life of our Corps as we turn one. Let us, as a church family, take time to marvel at how God has worked in us as a community. He has taken this year to grow us, stretch us and has used us to share His love with others. Corps Council members are busy preparing for a special celebration on Sunday 17 th March that you won t want to miss! The second celebration this month is Easter. The theme will be Because Jesus... You complete the sentence. Think about the impact of Jesus on the world as you know it, on your own life and on the lives of others. Why not invite your friends and family to mark this important holiday in their calendars, by coming to church with you at the Salvation Army this Easter Sunday? We will be starting the morning with a shared breakfast and ending it with an Easter Egg hunt. And now, may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, all that is pleasing to him. Hebrews 13:20-21a Marcus & Jenny Captains Marcus & Jenny Collings Corps Officers

Child sponsorship The Bucket Run - Where does the money go? On the first Sunday of each month we hold a bucket run, when the children collect as much loose change as they can in 60 seconds, from those attending the meeting. This money goes to fund the two sponsorship agreements Albany Bays Corps has with the Cherish a Child programme run by the Salvation Army. Both projects support children in Tonga. Kahealani Tufui and Kolovai Kindy If you are interested in finding out how you can sponsor a child or help the F.O.O.D programme, please see Sarah at the office, phone 4787567 or email sarah_fordyce@nzf.salvationarmy.org Pictured (at top) the recent student graduation ceremony held at Kolovai Kindergarten.
