RCIA Inquiry Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults The RCIA is a process for those considering becoming Catholic. Specifically, it is: For those who are not baptized and are in the process of making a decision to become Catholic For those who were baptized and are in another faith and are thinking of becoming Catholic For those who were baptized Roman Catholic and have not received Eucharist and Confirmation The process is designed to assist those interested in Catholicism, to learn about our faith, our traditions, and our celebrations. Each person is invited to reflect on his/her own relationship with God and the faith community. We journey through this process together, assisting each other in our response to God s call. If you or someone you know is interested in participating in the RCIA, please call Aline Reynolds at the Religious Education Office (773) 286-1939 for more information. Classes are on Thursday evenings beginning in September. There is an initial Meet and Greet for all team members and inquiring adults on Sept 6 th after the 11AM Mass. Call for more information: (773) 286-1939. Wedding Banns Frederick Hodges & Julie Fahrenbach Christopher Sorenson & Mary Pollard Jeffrey Wisniewski & Deanna Doyle The Women s Center July, 2015 Announcement At The Women s Center women who are pregnant and in a difficult situation find compassion, friendship and help. Very often they are being coerced into aborting their baby; but with our support, they are able to give birth to their child. Have you felt God calling you to serve in the pro-life mission field? The Women s Center is looking for new volunteers Monday-Friday at our Cicero Ave. location. We especially need two volunteers to greet clients in our lobby reception area on Wednesdays 9am-noon and Fridays 1-4pm. We would love to find a retired man, who can lift up to 40 lbs., to distribute baby furniture on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 10am-2pm. We also need ladies to assist clients in our Family Room to receive merchandise for their families on Saturdays 9am-12noon or noon-3pm and a lady willing to assemble layettes and hygiene bags. We also have an excellent opportunity for up to four people at a time to clean and prepare baby bottles for our spare change campaign. The families who receive these things are grateful for your generosity. THE WOMEN'S CENTER 5116 North Cicero Avenue Chicago, IL 60630 (773)794-1313 Domestic Violence You deserve to be safe. f tewardship Committed to Christ, Queen of All Saints Basilica sharing God's gifts, building the Church together Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time June 28, 2015 Summer Projects Summer is here, and this means an increase in the repair and maintenance work that require good weather and/or our school being out of session. As announced earlier, here are just a few: The school cafeteria space, using the proceeds from the UPP Raise the Paddle. Concrete repairs to sidewalks, stairway and curbs. Repair and refurbishment of the play area, including addressing the soft surface. Refurbishing the washrooms by the gym. Painting the wrought iron parking lot fence. We maintain our physical plant to be safe, useful and a source of pride to our parish. Please consider these needs when you decide on your level of support. When people become selfcentered and selfenclosed, their greed increases. The emptier a person s heart is, the more he or she needs things to buy, own and consume. It becomes almost impossible to accept the limits imposed by reality. In this horizon, a genuine sense of the common good also disappears. If you are a registered parishioner, please come into the rectory during business hours to schedule your child's baptism. If it is not possible for you to come into the rectory, please call the rectory to make arrangements. The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is celebrated two or three Sundays of the month, depending on the time of year, at 1:30 PM - call the rectory for the exact schedule. A Baptismal Preparation class for the parents is required. They are held on select Mondays at 7:30 PM in the Rectory and must also be scheduled in advance. If an adult or a school age child seeks baptism, special arrangements should be made with one of the priests. The Sacrament of Matrimony Queen of All Saints helps couples prepare not only for their wedding day, but the lifelong commitment of living a Christian marriage. Parishioners of Queen of All Saints Basilica who are baptized and free to marry in the Catholic Church may celebrate their marriage in Queen of All Saints Basilica. Couples from Queen of All Saints seeking marriage in Queen of All Saints Basilica should contact one of the parish priests at least six months prior to their intended date of marriage. The couple must meet with one of the priests before the date for the marriage can be confirmed. Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is not a sacrament for those who are the point of death. As soon as one of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him/her to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived. Therefore, any member of the faithful who is seriously ill because of sickness or advanced age, may properly receive this sacrament. Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time June 28, 2015 9
